APOCALYPSE AU: 2019

This event will run from Tuesday, July 23rd until Sunday, August 4th.

Greensville, North Carolina.

The date is July 23rd, 2019. Ten months ago, life as everyone knew it ended for the small town’s residents - and the world. Societies crumbled, populations plummeted, and basic resources became a valuable commodity. Drinking water was scarce, fuel was dwindling, and it seemed to all that the movies had almost gotten it right - almost. They’d been too generous. 

Many fled the towns and cities during the initial crisis, and some remained. Some became safe havens for lost souls and those that stayed behind, and some became outposts for trouble - some, like Greensville, had been stuck in limbo. 

The town’s future is yet to be decided, as its residents adjust to life as it is. Some hope to restore the world to its former “glory”, to establish the society that they knew, and rebuild exactly what they lost. Others seek to start fresh, to learn from the mistakes of the past, and navigate the new world not only to survive, but to live. And there are those who refuse to waste their time on empty promises of a better tomorrow - they take what they need, and don’t look back. 

Plots do not have to be run by the admin, but please respect NOS’ canon plot guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to be 100% sure that your plot is alright, the main’s inbox is always open!

It’s not mandatory, but we also encourage everyone to make a post about the characters you’ll be using for this AU. Post links to any information posts in the OOC. Please don’t reblog the post itself!

You’re welcome to also tag these posts with #aunoschara, but as the tags still appear to be misbehaving, the OOC is recommended!

Closed starters are not permitted during this AU - this goes for AU and canon starters. The starters rule must be upheld - three starter replies for every starter posted. You must make an effort to continue these threads - it doesn’t count to reply to a starter and drop the thread immediately after. However, for everyone participating in the AU, you are allowed one “freebie” starter per account - but please make sure to reply to each other’s too!

AU starters may also be posted in our NOSStarters blog, but MUST have their title formatted with “AU” at the beginning. This is to help anyone who isn’t participating differentiate from canon starters! The #aunosstarter tag may also be used, we just can’t guarantee that all posts will show up here.

Please note, if you failed to complete our most recent activity task, you will not be able to participate in this AU.

Come one, come all!

Our resident Shakespeare is turning 25! To celebrate this wonderful occasion a party is being thrown in his honor each evening this weekend (04/26-04/28). Three days of a multitude of free entertainment, food and music for all to enjoy!

Important information -

All are welcome!

Please inform a member of staff in regards to any dietary restrictions before eating.

Do not remove anyone’s mask or share their identity.

Upon entering, you will be required to privately remove your mask and show your ID to an independent member of staff to receive a wristband which you must show when ordering drinks at any of the bars.

A blue wristband will be given to anyone who is unable to provide valid ID, is under the legal drinking age or is the responsible guardian of any children attending and you will not be served alcoholic beverages.

A red wristband will be given to anyone with valid ID who is over the legal drinking age. Do not give alcohol to any underage guests.

You do not need to bring a present for the flower boy (because he’s still a big baby about receiving gifts) but if you would like to do something for his birthday, in lieu of a gift, please make a donation to Greensville’s Children’s Home.

No puking in the ball pit.

OOC:

This is a canon event and all threads can and may affect your characters once over.

Participation is not mandatory.

The starter rule will apply during this event.

New blogs/side blogs will not be created/used for this event.

That being said, in the spirit of anonymity, the @greensvillegossip cats will not have any knowledge of who is who and who does what - as long as your character keeps their mask on.

No special tags are needed as this is all canon but it may be helpful for anyone who’s characters won’t be attending to include it somewhere in your starters!

The event will run for three days, as will the party. Once over, no new starters may be posted for the party but please feel free to continue ongoing threads! There will be posts to acknowledge the start and the end!

Summer vacation is on its way!

Soon it’ll be time for relaxing, saving up for that first car with summer jobs, spontaneous adventures, and summertime fun, but first, we have a few things coming up at GHS! Here’s your calendar for the remainder of the school year (seniors, take note) ...

Hi everyone! 

From the 24th of December until the 2nd of January, we’ll be taking some time off! The holidays are a busy season for all of us, and your ol’ admins need some time to rest and recharge before the new year.

During this time, we will not be accepting new applications, plot requests, FC changes, etc. You are, of course, welcome to send these in! Just know that we won’t be looking at them until the new year, so there’ll be a delay on acceptances and updates and the like. If you have any questions, or want to talk to us about this, please reach out! 

We will still be available through our regular means, so if you do still need us for something, we’re here! For chats, concerns, questions, ideas, passing thoughts - you name it, we want to hear about it!

We will also still be active during this period - RPing, and (as always) ensuring that the rules are being followed. We’re not going anywhere, we just need some time to recuperate - admining is hard work.  

Plus, from the 24th of December until the 2nd of January, we’ll be allowing free OPEN starters! This means that you won’t have to reply to 3 open starters to post an open starter (with a maximum of 2 per character). You will, however, still have to reply to 3 open starters to post one closed starter. Remember to keep checking the tag, too! We think this would be the perfect time for new threads and new connections - start them now, and see where they end up by this time next year!

To give everyone the opportunity to post, read, and be in the know about what  everyone’s up to during the AUs, we’ve decided to add a tag to NOS’ official list!

We love the info posts that are made for each AU - the ones that fill everyone in on what characters are up to, and what everyone can expect from them - and we’d like for everyone to have an easy place to find these. The posts are not at all compulsory, neither is using the tag, but the option is there. 

This tag will be a space for AU character information posts only, but if you have  any others you’d like to see, let us know! We’re always open to suggestion.

It’s that time of year again, folks!

North of Somewhere’s AU Summer Event - 2018!

This year, the AU event runs a little (maybe a lot? Idk.) past summer but I’m sticking with the name because I like it.

For these non-canon events our characters will travel into an alternate universe. There will be a three day break between each AU in which you are to wrap up any threads so we can start fresh on each Monday. 

More information will be available on each AU, which will be posted the day before the event starts, but below is a preview of each alternate universe. You have all the power to decide what happens to your character and what your character will be doing in the alternate universe. Plots do not need admin approval. There will be no need to send in any information about your characters for each AU, however, if you would like to make a post to give everyone some background on your AU character then please feel free. :)

We’ve received suggestions and ideas from you lovely people and the AU’s this year are as follows:

Harry Potter AU - This AU will run from Monday, June 25th until Thursday, July 5th.

Future AU (6 years) - This AU will run from Monday, July 9th until Thursday, July 19th.

Redo AU - This AU will run form Monday, July 23rd until Thursday, August 2nd.

Supernatural AU - This AU will run from Monday, August 6th until Thursday, August 16th.

Future AU (23 years) - This AU will run from Monday, August 20th until Thursday, August 30th.

Posts will go on your character’s blog, there is no need for side blogs for this event. In order for everyone to not become confused we ask that, as always, if you are participating, you title/tag each post with “AU”. THE RULES:

Participation in this event is not mandatory. This event will not affect your canon story lines. The canon roleplay will still be continued, for any of the roleplayers wishing not to participate though we ask that for the duration of this event, all AU posts must remain part of the event as to avoid confusion (no external/private AUs are permitted during this time; please speak to us if you have any concerns/complaints in regards to this). Remember you can blacklist “AU” to block the posts.

For those participating, please remember to be mindful of triggering subjects, as some AUs may include sensitive topics for some.

Open canon starters are “freebie” for the duration of this event, but the starters rule still applies to all closed starters. Open starters for the AU are “freebie” for only the first five days, and after that the starters rule will apply. Closed (AU and canon) starters are subject to the starters rule for the entire event.

You are only allowed to post starters for the event during the 11 days that each AU will receive.

Please use the tag #aunosstarter for AU starters. We’ll remind you when we start each AU! We’ll begin the AU Summer event on Monday, June 25th.
