APOCALYPSE AU: 2019

This event will run from Tuesday, July 23rd until Sunday, August 4th.

Greensville, North Carolina.

The date is July 23rd, 2019. Ten months ago, life as everyone knew it ended for the small town’s residents - and the world. Societies crumbled, populations plummeted, and basic resources became a valuable commodity. Drinking water was scarce, fuel was dwindling, and it seemed to all that the movies had almost gotten it right - almost. They’d been too generous. 

Many fled the towns and cities during the initial crisis, and some remained. Some became safe havens for lost souls and those that stayed behind, and some became outposts for trouble - some, like Greensville, had been stuck in limbo. 

The town’s future is yet to be decided, as its residents adjust to life as it is. Some hope to restore the world to its former “glory”, to establish the society that they knew, and rebuild exactly what they lost. Others seek to start fresh, to learn from the mistakes of the past, and navigate the new world not only to survive, but to live. And there are those who refuse to waste their time on empty promises of a better tomorrow - they take what they need, and don’t look back. 

Plots do not have to be run by the admin, but please respect NOS’ canon plot guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to be 100% sure that your plot is alright, the main’s inbox is always open!

It’s not mandatory, but we also encourage everyone to make a post about the characters you’ll be using for this AU. Post links to any information posts in the OOC. Please don’t reblog the post itself!

Closed starters are not permitted during this AU - this goes for AU and canon starters. The starters rule must be upheld - three starter replies for every starter posted. You must make an effort to continue these threads - it doesn’t count to reply to a starter and drop the thread immediately after. However, for everyone participating in the AU, you are allowed one “freebie” starter per account - but please make sure to reply to each other’s too!

AU starters may also be posted in our NOSStarters blog, but MUST have their title formatted with “AU” at the beginning. This is to help anyone who isn’t participating differentiate from canon starters! The #aunosstarter tag may also be used, we just can’t guarantee that all posts will show up here.

THE NOS FUTURE AU HAS OFFICIALLY ENDED.

FUTURE AU: 2040

The town is Greensville, the year is 2040. 

This event will run from Monday 6th January to Monday 20th January.

Plots do not have to be run by the admin, but please respect NOS’ canon plot guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to be 100% sure that your plot is alright, the main’s inbox is always open!

Please note that any ages selected for your characters’ children does not guarantee they will be accepted in NOS’ canon. While this isn’t a problem during the AUs, we can’t accept everyone’s children in the next couple of years. Please bear this in mind, and be open to shuffling dates when the time comes!

It’s not mandatory, but we also encourage everyone to make a post about the characters you’ll be using for this AU. Post links to any information posts in the OOC. Please don’t reblog the post itself!

We are not making new blogs for these characters nor do you need a new fc. We ask, however, that when you’re choosing fcs (if you’re choosing fcs) that you please respect which are for use and which are currently banned. We do not want to make anyone uncomfortable with any of the fcs used, and we ask for you to take care with this.

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AU: 2019

This event will run from Wednesday, November 5th until Monday, November 18th.

Greensville, North Carolina.

The date is November 5th, 2019. Six months ago, life as the world knew it changed. It started in the cities, and it spread like rapid fire to the regions beyond - the epidemic, as they’d first known it. Some, with hindsight, believed that if nobody had tried to flee the metropolitan areas, then the “disease” would have been contained. Others believed it was “in the water. And others? The air. Nobody knew what had caused it, nobody knew for sure how they could have prevented it, but everybody knew ... everybody left knew that the dead were walking, and there were few left with their hearts still beating. 

The world’s population had taken its greatest hit three weeks after the first case, though the numbers had started to dwindle in the months since. The first case had been reported in South Carolina, of all places. The next, Minnesota. After that, York, then Shanghai, Alexandria and Perth in the same day ... more and more each day, until there was scarcely a small back road town that hadn’t felt its impact. There wasn’t a person left alive who hadn’t witnessed the horror first hand. 

Families, friends, all lost to the great epidemic. There are those remaining who believe their ... loved ones are still in there, that if they simply wait it out, life will return to “normal”. There are others who know that to be impossible, and dedicate their lives to eradicating the threat. There are others who simply want to survive. Greensville’s residents are no different.

Survival, revenge, fear, hope ... the town has never been quieter, but its people still have choices to make - still have options, unlike so many others.
