Agent Texas, how pathetic you are. You are nothing. You're just a shadow, you don't even exist.
Tex sat up in bed gripping at her head. Chest heaving as she sat staring at the foot of the bed where her feet stuck out from previously kicking off the blankets. She just had to get this AI didn't she? Omega... shut the fuck up. Her arms now rested atop her bent knees as she laced one hand within her semi short blonde hair. Closing her eyes a heavy sigh escaped her lips. After a moment, she swung her lower half to the side of the bunk her legs now dangling to the floor. Pulling the blanket off, she hopped off her bunk and stretched her arms behind her back. Arching her back forward sent a series of cracking down her spine resulting in a muffled groan of relief. " Damn.. " She reached down to the chair near her bunk and pulled her sweatshirt off it before replacing it upon her chest. Making her way to the door of her room, she placed a cold hand upon the pad that controlled the open/close of the door. The door opened and she made her way into the hall as it closed behind her. It was to late for anyone to be up at this time of night. She was alone in the once busy hallways that were used to be full of personnel hurrying along throughout the day. Now, nothing. The Freelance walked along as she ran her fingers up and down the cold material of the ship wall. Her eyes fixed on the floor before her. Making it a point to turn a corner ever so often just to lose herself.
After a while of walking, her fingers had traced over a sign on the wall. It caused her to stop in her tracks and lift her gaze to read the sign. ' Agent North. ' She fingered at the sign gently as she gave a faint smile. How she admired that Freelancer. Such heart and determination he possessed. After a moment of standing in front of the door like a moron, she finally raised her hand to rap at the door. Her hand hovered a moment before the metal before she sighed and shook her head. Dropping her hand to her side she buried them into the pocket of her sweatshirt. The blonde turned from the door to make her way down the hall. Without even getting a few steps, a tiny voice filled the room causing Tex to turn and face the door once again. A purple light appeared in front of the door causing Tex to smile. " Agent Texas.. where are you going? "
Laughing under her breath slightly she shrugged her shoulders, " Theta.. I'm sorry for bothering you. "
" You didn't. "
" Can you not sleep either? " With a tilt of her head she stepped closer to the door once again crossing her arms at her chest. Eying the AI carefully, he shifted uncomfortably and nodded to her. " I was just out walking. I couldn't sleep for some reason either. " pushing Omega to the back of her mind to silence him while she spoke to the younger AI.
" Well please, come in. I could use some company and we can even wake up North! " He pipped up happily. Tex opened her mouth to argue the pint but before she could Theta opened the door and was at North in one movement. Making her way into the room slowly, she closed the door behind her and smiled as she heard Theta. " North North! Wake up! Someone's here! " North stirred lightly and grumbled under his breath before shooing Theta. " Wha-what's going on? " The man sat up in bed as he yawned out loudly with a rub at his eye. Glancing up he took in the fact Tex was standing on the other side of the room looking uncomfortable. He jumped from the bed and stood tall his face burning red.
" Tex-Uh I-forgive me. I did not see you there. " North noted his shirtless top as he coughed and scrambled near his pile of armor as he searched for a shirt. Dressing his chest, he reached up rubbing at the back of his head, " Tex- what are you doing here? Not that, I'm not happy to see you or anything. It's just late. "
" I couldn't sleep and while on my walk I happened upon your door and Theta let me in. " Tex motioned her hand to the tiny AI as she butted into the conversation with an excited gentle voice. " I did let her in. I like her North. " Laughing slightly with a smile, North nodded to Theta, " I know you do buddy. " Motioning for Tex to come closer, he brought hr into his arms laying his chin upon the top of her head. The black Freelancer was significantly shorter than that male Soldier before her. Smiling she closed her eyes and gripped his shirt gently. Rubbing at her back gently he cleared his throat and pulled from her, " Ya know, you can crash here tonight if you need. Theta and I wont mind. We might have to sleep close though. The bunk's not all to big as you know." He laughed under his breath while he waited for Tex to answer. She cleared her throat and gave in. She finally felt herself falling tired and didn't want to walk all the way back to her quarters.
Nodding she chuckled, " Why not. Maybe I'll actually get good sleep. " giving a weak smile, knowing she was going to regret this later, she glanced to the bed. Turning to face him, North slid his hands u the females sweater as he lifted if up and off her head. As her arms fell back to her sides, it revealed her with a black tank top and stiff shoulders. She wasn't used to this and she didn't know if she liked it or not. North pulled the covers of the bed as he sprawled out comfortably and patted the other half of the bed for her to lay. Smiling faintly, Tex crawled under the covers laying as close to North as she possibly could. Wrapping her sleek arm around his waist, she nuzzled her face into his strong neck. Sighing contently he pulled tight to the agent. North couldn't help give a warm smile and place a hand atop the females head stroking her hair.
" Don't forget me! " the tiny voice chimed in as Theta appeared next to North. n another moment, the child fragment had cuddled up atop the blanket between the two holding his skateboard tight to his chest. Glancing down to him, Tex smiled warmly. " Goodnight Theta.. " North spoke soft and quiet now. Without another word within a few moments Tex was surrounded by two sleeping boys. After what felt like an hour of laying with the two, Tex herself finally dozed off.
It wasn't a long pleasant sleep however. Omega was up early and chatting quite loudly in the females head. Flinching slightly waking herself up, she sighed and rubbed her temple. Maneuvering herself around she wiggled past the sleeping North as she sat up in the bed. Theta had disappeared in the middle of the night. Swinging her legs to the edge of the bunk Tex propped her elbow up on her knees resting her head in her hands.
" Texas.. " a muffled deep voice ran in her head.
" What do you think you are doing? This is pathetic. You are at the top and here you waste your time with this lower level. It is only going to slow you down. He is nothing. YOU, are nothing.. "
Tex glanced back to the sleeping North as she reached up wiping off the tears that not streamed her cheeks. Faintly smiling she pushed Omega to the back of her mind. Reaching over, Tex ever so lightly brushed the back of her hand against the soft skin of his cheek. Shaking her head she tried her hardest to keep herself from breaking down and waking him. Sighing to herself, she quietly pushed from the bed and grabbed her sweatshirt. Reaching for some paper on his desk, she quickly wrote, ' I'm sorry. - Tex ' upon the small white sheet. Laying it on the pillow next to him, she leaned over to him and planted a gentle kiss upon his forehead before quickly leaving the room. A flash of purple appeared behind her and spoke with a shaky voice, " Miss Tex.. " she shook her head and closed the door putting distance between her and the boys as quick as she could. Theta turned and scanned North before catching sight of the paper that replaced where Tex laid. Appearing next to it he leaned over and read the two small words. He shook his head and sniffled slightly while clutching his skateboard to his chest.
" Tex! Don't you think you've trained enough today? Some of us are also scheduled for the floor. " York crossed his arms watching as Tex approached the arsenal table. Scanning the pieces she picked up a new paint clip and replaced the now empty one in her pistol. Glancing to him she growled under her breath, " Sorry York. I have to much to work on right now. "
" Carolinas not going to be happy if you go into her time. "
" Do you honestly think I give two shits about what Carolina wants? " Glaring at York behind her gold visor she tilted her head. " Tex come on- " raising her pistol to his visor she hissed, " You should leave now York. I'm busy. " with a hand of surrender York mumbled to himself and walked backwards before turning on his heels and left the training floor. Turning to the open room once again Tex scanned every obstacle.
" Allison... "
" No. Omega. Log off. " Tex growled to her AI as he appeared at her shoulder. " You can't ignore me forever. " he ran in her mind, " I can try. "
Tex spun the pistol in her hand as she sprinted towards the targets on the floor.
York watched the floor from the top window as he leaned against the wall arms crossed. The sound of metal footsteps was heard as he turned his attention to the source. Raising his hand he laughed out, " North! Morning man! " his tone quickly changed as he noticed his friend walking right on without so much as a glanced to him. Kicking away from the wall he trotted over to the purple Freelancer grabbing his shoulder and turning him to face the man. " Hey, what's up with you? " Finally glancing up, North gave a weak smile behind his visor.
" Sorry York, I didn't see you there. " North was unusually quiet. For someone always happy this new attitude put York off. " Is something wrong? " York's voice was full of curiosity and concern for his teammate. Shaking his head giving the typical silent 'no' North spoke strongly for his silent pain. " I just didn't sleep all to well. Theta couldn't sleep so I had to take him for a walk. " The small AI appeared atop North's shoulder watching him, " But North I- "
" Not right now Theta I'm talking to York. " York's eyes didn't leave the small AI until he lowered his head and logged off. " Man I would say everyone's acting weird this morning. But then I remembered Tex is just a bitch by nature. " North took his attention to York seriously once Tex had left his lips. " You've seen her today? " Taking a step closer to York, his voice yearned for a positive response to his question. Raising his hands slightly York nodded to the window, " She practically blew my god damn head off. Why are you looking for her? " York's body turned as North walked to the window staring down at the black spartan below. There you are.. North pushed from the window walking past York and making his way down to the entrance of the floor. York sighed placing a hand to his helmet. " What's with everyone today? "
Tex dropped her pistol as she swallowed hard between harsh breaths. She had been training all morning. Shaking her head she punched the wall slightly at the panel and the door opened with a clang. They had to replace the panels a lot due to the temperamental women of project freelancer.
Walking with the classic sway of her hips, the female made her way from the floor passing Carolina on her way out. Not even saying a word when the female wailed on her about leaving the training floor the way it was. In ruins. Screams of irritation left the females helmet as Tex walked by without acknowledging her anger. Her eyes fixed on the ground the freelance sighed reaching up with a hand rubbing her visor slightly. Before she new it she felt as though she had ran into a brick wall. Only when she looked up she had to continue raising her gaze until she found herself staring up at North. " Tex what is going on? " North placed a hand on the side of her helmet. How he hated it. He wanted to see her features and embrace her. It was like talking to a brick wall with the helmet on.
" I don't know what you're talking about. " Tex reached up and shooed his head away as she stepped back. Norths hand stayed right where it was a moment before closing his fingers into a fist and lowering his arm. Tex turned her back to him glancing out the window near them. "Last night. Tell me you felt something as well. That's why you came to my room. An recently, Tex you've become the closest female to me on this team other than South. " North moved closer to hr as he tilted his head, " Tex... " she was glad he couldn't see her face. Her helmet giving her the free will to cry without him noticing. That's exactly what she did as she stood before him. The only difficultly she found was keeping her voice normal. Not giving off the fact she had been crying. Tossing her hands in the air the female sighed out. " You just had to go and be so amazing to me didn't you?! Sweep me off my fucking feet like that you fucking ruined everything! I fucking love you and I can't stand it! " Tex screamed out before realizing what she had said and shook her head before turning away and beginning to walk.
" Whatever this is, it can't happen. " Omega appeared at her shoulder as she walked away. Smirking back to North.
" North... I don't like what you're thinking.. " Theta pipped up appearing in front of North. " But it's true Theta. Omega must be making her think things she normally wouldn't. And it's scaring her. " Sighing lightly he slowly turned and began walking the other way as Theta skated after him. North was right. Every so-often when Omega caught Tex thinking of him, how she missed him and wanted to be with him, he would tell her how he would kill North. Omega liked details and not once spared to leave them out when telling his stories to the Freelancer.
I hate you.
Three words that Tex would think and tell Omega each time he would finish his story. Even when she shut him out she could still hear small details flow from the back of her mind. It got so bad a few weeks later she snapped. Sitting with York and Wash while eating lunch, Omega had become so loud Tex burst out and started screaming. Reaching up she pulled at her hair and shook her head. Sitting like that a moment she then stood from the table. Leaving the two confused freelancers behind. The two looked at each other while Wash practically choked on his food. York patted his back and stood from the table. " I'm going to talk to her, TEX! " Jogging up to her he stopped in front of her placing his hands at her shoulders. Lowering her hand she glared at him tears streaming her face.
" What what do you want York? "
" Tex tell me what's wrong. " she shook her head and glanced away shrugging her shoulders. " The last time I saw him, I told him I loved him. How could I have fucked up so easily. Number one on the leader board and I fall in fucking love with my teammate. How pathetic. But god, I fucking do. I fucking love him. " York scanned her and wiped at her cheek slightly.
" Who Tex? "
" North Dakota.. "
Just as she spoke his name, Wash came running up by them only to stop and grab one of each of their shoulders, " the twins and Carolina are back from their mission. Guys, North's in bad shape. "
Everything around Tex seemed to snap and crash to the ground around her. " York... catch me. " Tex's legs gave out from under her as she began to fall. York's arms shot out to catch her and hold her up. Picking her to her feet they began to slowly walk with her to recovery. By the time they made it to the door, Tex was walking again. North's armor was spread out on the table next to her. Scanning it carefully she reached out fingering the shattered chest plate. It was full of bullet holes covered in blood. Glancing to the cot next to the table her chest froze. There laid North. Chest and head covered in bloody bandages.
" North... "
Raising her hand, she cupped the side of his face. Her vision blurred as tears fell to the floor. North slightly opened his eyes and glanced to her. Coughing out he smiled lightly.
" Now I know I'm dead. My angel's come to take me away. "
Tex laughed and shook her head wanting to punch his shoulder. Scanning his face she sighed to him. " I'm no angel, North. " Reaching up slightly North cupped her face in return and rubbed his thumb gently at her cheek. " But you are mine. " Tex smiled and turned her head kissing his hand gently.
" I love you... North Dakota. You asshole. "
" I love you too, Tex. "
