North and Gothel have a history.

A young Northel piece I quickly did. It's not my best and is somewhat sloppy but I like it nonetheless.

North was drawn by William Joyce and Gothel was drawn by Pablo Santander for their respective books; Guardian of Childhood: Nicholas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare King and Mother Knows Best: A Tale of the Old Witch.

Some manips I made of my favorite current ship, Northel. I have so many ideas for this ship that some may be beyond my skill sadly but like that's going to stop me. Anyway enjoy!

North and Gothel met in their mid-teens, during Nicholas' time as an outlaw. He and his comrade bandits came to the Dead Woods, like many, to find the secret treasures of the witches that were rumored to live there. North was separated when attacked by the magical forest's floral and undead fauna. He was found by Gothel who had been trying to read, out in the woods, away from her coven sisters and the ruins they lived in, away from the world. She thought he was a mythical Wild Man. She tended to him and kept him as her secret friend, knowing her mother would kill him if she knew. The two grew close, with Nicholas' telling her about all of his adventures and feats, and Gothel telling him the secrets of magic, witches, and the power found in nature, despite Nicholas' disbelief of such things as magic. When Nicholas learned that there was in fact no treasure here, Gothel helped Nicholas find his way out of the woods where he would later regroup with his fellow bandits. They would meet again in their late-teens/early 20s, after the destruction of the Dead Woods and the death of her sisters left Gothel homeless and alone, and was found by Nicholas during his apprenticeship with Ombric on their mission trying to find the Golden Age artifacts to defeat Pitch. Despite Ombric's warning of the darkness he felt from Gothel, North brought her along. During their adventures, they became even more intimate. During their adventures, she became known as Lutzelfrau. As told in stories by Katherine, she had a dual nature. One moment, she was kind and a woman full of light and warmth, but the next, she could be frightening and cruel to those who misbehaved, threatening awful punishments and only children who behaved would be offered a reward from her. While Nicholas' was close and sentimental of children, Gothel admitted she would never become a mother due to her never wanting to becoming like her mother. The Gothel Nicholas' knew however, died the day she betrayed him. Gothel was full of resentment, anger, and power hungry since he found her again alone. With all this darkness filling her, Pitch used it to his advantage and in her nightmares would whisper promises of power if she took the Golden Age relics for herself and visions of becoming a queen if she were to join forces with Pitch. This all culminated in a battle for one of the relics with Pitch, with Nicholas wounded, he called for Gothel, only to see her grab the relic and disappear into the darkness, leaving Nicholas to fend for himself. Both their hearts broke that day, Nicholas loosing his first love, and Gothel full of guilt, let her heart harden and grow cold, forever crushing what was left of the good Gothel. That day Nicholas knew that his Gothel was gone, and Gothel would never love him like he did, not as much as she loved herself and her selfish desires.
