ESPN1008 por Stanley Short Por Flickr: I have noticed over the past several years that chain saws appear to be standard equipment on a lot of shortline locomotives. We watched as a northbound East Penn freight train approached and was able to stop before hitting a fallen tree at Northbrook, PA on Feb. 24, 2026. The crew got out of the cab with a chain saw and made quick work of clearing the track. A storm two days earlier had produced some high winds and several inches of snow.
