Ahhhhhh this is super difficult for me to answer, I have way too many ships to decide on an actual ‘top’ 5 😂 I’m just gonna list off the first handful that pop into my mind because otherwise I’ll probably overthink it, haha.
Yatori - Noragami My forever OTP. I can be pretty flexible and multifaceted with shipping, and it’s pretty common that I have multiple ship options in my head for characters, but I literally cannot see Yato or Hiyori with anyone else if not each other. (Honorable mention to Kazubisha for the same reason - those two are so perfect together and I love how they take care of one another. 🥺) The sheer determination they have to stand by and stand up for one another, no matter what it costs them(for Hiyori, her ability to live a normal life - for Yato, the struggle that comes with being a god falling for a human since that seems to be considered taboo/will be crushing when she eventually grows old and passes) MAKES MY HEART SIMULTANEOUSLY SO HAPPY AND SO SAD. But I just love their dynamic and how true to themselves they are around one another and that they’ve also become the sweet goofy and embarrassing parents to Yukine.
Tokka - Avatar: The Last Airbender These two were right along Zutara in being one of my first ships. I always loved their dynamic, and how eternally supportive they were of one another, even despite all their teasing and rhetoric with one another. Sokka just seemed to get through to Toph in a way that nobody else in the gaang did and their friendship/Toph’s blossoming crush on him made me soft. ❤
Normito - Catastrophe at Sixteen / Seraph of the End I admit, this one partiallyyyy falls into my affinity for the ‘love at first fight’ trope. I always adore bickering/rivalry couples. But, more than that, Norito and Mito just have a really good and strong friendship that I feel could blossom into a really nice romance. I don’t think they’d be a super soft couple or anything(I imagine there’d still be a good portion of time where Mito pretty much just babysits her goofy himbo bf), but I think they’d still keep up a friendly sense of competion and, above all else, would stand by and protect each other even if they tend to bicker or brawl. Norito’s already saved her before, after all.
Karizuki - The World Ends With You These two are basically just team rocket and I freaking love it. You’ve got the hard-working and determined to rise to the top girl with anger issues, and the guy who’s got a great mix of skill and concealed kindness to his name, but who’s not afraid to get down and dirty or play the bad guy. When, of course, he’s not putting off his work. I really like these two for a lot of reasons - Kariya teaches Uzuki the lesson that it’s important to slow down and enjoy life as opposed to rushing through it, and I think Uzuki also teaches him that having passion and some sort of goal is good as well. They have fun banter and obviously care a lot about each other, and there isn’t a moment that passes where they aren’t by one another’s side, even when they’re just slacking off to grab ramen, and I dig that!
Iichako - My Hero Academia Okay I literally only just got into My Hero like a week and a half ago, but I fell in love with this ship almost immediately lmao(though I’ve been torn between it and Kacchako because I think they also have the potential for a wonderful dynamic/bettering one another). I don’t even know how to describe it in full - these two just have so many great traits that compliment each other wonderfully. They both have such bright and vibrant personalities and are unabashedly themselves, but have so much in common. They support their friends, but will speak up if they feel those friends out of line or endangering themselves(big mom/dad vibes). Within only a few weeks of knowing each other, Ochako had already started mirroring all the crazy and wild hand gesturing that Iida does when he speaks which was also a treat. And I just think Ochako’s wild, freespirited and bubbly personality is a really good contrast to Iida’s more uptight, play-by-the-rules routine. And the faith he has in her and her abilities/the support and admiration he shows when she explains her reasons for seeking a career as a hero(where many people would shame her for seeking money) is so endearing.
