Sex is Like Dessert
That's how you have to think of it, if you're really gonna do this abstinent thing. You can have sex only after you get through the bread, butter, house salad, and meatloaf. You don't start dinner with an apple pie. Sure you COULD..... but should you? Should you give your body to someone who doesn't love your soul? Should you ask that of someone else? If we're being real, sex is like somebody ELSE's dessert. And you would NEVER put your fork in somebody else's pie without their permission. That body you're lusting after belong's to God. That's his pie. And if you want a slice.. if you're even thinking about taking a bite, then you better read up on the terms and conditions. You don't have God's permission to have sex with someone until you've signed off on loving that person through thick and thin. You don't have permission until you vow to the creator of all things that you will love and cherish this particular slice of apple pie for the rest of your life to the best of your ability. If you're still tempted (like I was) knowing full well how God feels about it, then you have to remove as many obstacles of tempation that you possibly can. Sex and dessert have always been on the list my favorite things; even when I couldn't have them. So I packed up my 20some sex books and paraphernalia, locked them in a trunk and banished them to the room of forgotten things (my mother's garage). I put them out of sight so that I could focus on the important things. But I kept them in a safe place.. so that I could enjoy that sweet treat after I made it through the main course.
