So NordLocker is ... not fantastic.
First, I had set it up before I knew how to use it and I forgot the PIN and then lost the recovery key, so I had to go through a huge ordeal to even get it unlocked.
Once I did manage to navigate the maze and get it reconfigured, the Windows app is absolute fucking Mickey Mouse. The first challenge is that it will not work if NordVPN is connected. How's that even work? There's no way that I've found so far to make it work without disconnecting from NordVPN first. Absolute clown shoes. I've put in a request to their Support Desk regarding that.
Next, the app creates a local locker on your workstation, but there is no option to move it. It creates it in c:\users\username\documents\NordLocker and there is no way to change this. So if you're like me and you use a small SSD for your OS drive and a larger SSD for software installs, you're kinda boned there.
Next, it does not seem to like uploading, which is stupid because that's literally it's job. That's what it is for. I have ~1500 photos from my phone I would like to back up. It will only back up ~570 or so before it just ... stops. No error, no warning, nothing. Just stops. Unreliable.
The Windows app is slow and laggy, and is nowhere near as feature-rich as other vendors (like Google, DropBox, OneDrive etc). You can't just pick folders on your workstation to sync and have it done for you. Insanity. Absolute nonsense.
And onto the Android app, it's not great either but it's better than the Windows app. But once again, it's not robust or feature-rich like other vendors, and if you attempt to upload vast numbers of files to it it just ... fails. No errors or warnings, just fails. I was connected to wifi, disconnected from NordVPN, and connected to power and it failed after about 550 files.
The easiest way to manage it is the web interface, which is the least buggy way to use it. But once again, large numbers of files just fail after 500 some odd files with no error or warning. So I decided to get clever and zip all my photos and videos. It came out to 9.5GB. I attempted to upload, and it errored out stating that the largest filesize is 8GB. Horseshit! Total BS! So I've split it into two different zip files, one is 7GB and the other is 2GB and I'll see how that goes. If it goes.
I can't believe I paid for the premium version. I could've just upgraded my GDrive for the same price and been further ahead. I hope they get their shit together eventually because I want to like this service but there's no way in hell I could recommend it.
