Soooo I am a full month late for Star Fever, BUT here is the beginning of what I had planned way back when I signed up (before university and concussions made a mess of things :/). I really didnât want to let May 4th pass without posting something. Now that I have oodles of free time there will hopefully be more drawings.
This one is really more of a study I did to understand Goaâuld physiology a little better. I started off just trying to pin down their approximate size compared to humans (vaguely forearm length?) and then I was thinking about how the Goaâuld/jedi might actually connect to their hostâs brainstem. Iâm not sure where they would anchor their heads but I kind of assumed at the back of the cerebellum (idk, it regulates your motor movements so it sort of makes sense?). Your spinal cord is so delicate that Iâm not sure how they get situated with such limited wiggle room, but it was fun to consider.Â
After that I got a little sidetracked for a while- I mean theyâre wrapped around the spine?? HOW? Their biochemistry and physiology must be whack to make that possible without hurting their hosts. What is it they secrete that prevents pain in their host before they are attached enough to suppress it ânormallyâ? Do Goaâuld have fused skulls? Maybe theyâre 99% cartilage so they can squish themselves into tight spaces inside their hosts, its not like you really have a lot of room in your skull. Do they even enter the skull??? Do they have their own digestive tracts?? They can live outside hosts so probably, but then how do they get nutrients in-host? Is their ability to filter poisons from their hosts purely via the Force or do they have the Goaâuld equivalent of livers and kidneys??? Someone to CT scan a Goaâuld PLEASE. Basically, you can take the scientist out of school but you canât take the science out of the scientist.
I was also thinking about Goaâuld skin texture and I know they probably arenât supposed to be scaly, but I reallyyyy want them to be, so I also made some scale texture with Obi-Wanâs colouring. I do have plans to paint Rex and other human-shaped people, but to be honest I now mostly want to make a spread from a Goaâuld physiology textbook or something (please share your opinions on Goaâuld-host biology with me, nothing would bring me more joy).Â
Happy Star Wars day everyone!Â
corona crisis
I hope everyone i know is ok and iâm sorry that i was long gone but iâm stressed and my intentions to kill the next guy who scream at me is high. I hope you have itâs better and take care of yourselves.

AAAAAA SO CUTE
It is! And I will definitely not accidentally melt this one.

THAT. IS, AWESOME!
Lunch sharks are the best sharks! Especially when they remain unmelted!

AZI-345211896246498721347 -- Though Fives calls him AZI-3 because they're like that
Thanks!
(unrelated, but one day Iâm really good dig in and write about the narrative parallels and implications of naming amongst clones and droids)

Director's cut meme! After much indecisive flailing, either your selection from any of the extensive awesome, or maybe the family gathering over the holidays in Our Bodies Safe to Shore, please?
Iâm going with the Te Wiata family holiday gathering from Our Bodies Safe to Shore! Normally I would do a breakdown/commentary of the scene, but given how long that scene is we would be here approximately seven years, so Iâm just going to ramble in a semi-coherent manner instead. Itâs, uh, gonna be long.
The Te Wiata scenes were some of my favorite to write but also a little frustrating because suddenly I had a lot of characters to keep track of: who was standing where, who was doing what, who was speaking. I also had to make sure each character was distinct from the other. One of the things I always worry about in writing any of the clones is to making them all sound exactly the same. I have, unsurprisingly, a better grasp of Rexâs voice than the others. But given the limited amount of screentime the clones got in the series, you have to extrapolate and take some liberties. I thinkâhopefully!âIâve done an okay job of making each of them their own person.
Director's cut meme: âstarâ please!
awww thank you!! <3Â
Im going to go with The Beat, because I love to write social commentary and reminders that the clones are not white. And where i am definitely very white, i am queer and i did, unfortunately, have dealings with neo nazis in HS. Nothing like in this, but more than enough.Â
I really do love just writing soft happy moments between my queer boys, but things tend to end up happening to throw a wrench into their afternoon.Â
Visually this was inspired by a local record shop that has been there for actual ages. That with a sprinkling of a back to back of songs on the local radio station this kind of just happened. Now in canon both of them are medics in the GAR, and both fully trained. Poke leans away from violence, but obviously does participate when needed. In the Flowers and Tattoos au he is much more of a pacifist, but Stick my sweet angry boy is not afraid to partake in violence when the need calls for it.Â
I really just hate gate keepers in any situation, music included. Add to the fact that this asshole was a racist and a homophobe, well that just added to the tension.Â
I couldnât just leave it at that, and needed to have at least a positive ending, thank you to Hevy and Hardcase for helping there <3Â
Director's cut meme! âstarâ please!
Iâm going to do this for Kayshâtayli because Iâm still really happy with that fic!
It started with the first line popping into my head, and then I needed to figure out how to make it work (fun fact, this is how a lot of my fics happen). I loved the idea of Haastal connecting to something larger than himself, especially when it comes to his memory-keeping. Â
It felt like such a tragic thing - Haastal is the only one who carries a lot of these memories, his brothers and their stories, and with clones only having a half life, theyâre going to die that final death when he passes.
It wasnât till I was mostly finished with it that I wanted to add more of the supernatural element to it, so I went back to add some details - the description of them looking like a ghost themselves, and them knowing the names of Haastalâs batchmates. Â
I left them ambiguous, because in my head, theyâre a personification of the Manda itself. The accent just sort of happened - apparently the Manda has a deep bayou accent? It just fit. Â
Thank you for asking!
