favourite fictional character archetype? if you could cook one (1) impressive meal for a guest what will be your go-to? favourite line from a book/show/movie?
wheezes <3
okay uhm as far as archetypes go i really enjoy the Caregiver type characters and how they can really take so many forms and roles in the story while still fulfilling that archetype. Outlaw is a favorite too but it has to be done well you know?
my go to dish to impress someone would be.... honestly i think my homemade gnocchi a la vodka with balsamic broccoli is the safest go to i have, but i also like doing steak with risotto blanco and mixed greens. im hoping to get comfy with a few of Tony Bourdain’s recipes too, to the point i’d be confident enough to make them as staples.
and my favorite line from a movie/show/book, and i am making a point not to use Black Sails because i would quote entire monologues at you if i did, is... god this is a hard one uhm...
im gonna be really corny at the moment and say Sam’s speech about there being good in the world worth fighting for, thats one i go back to a lot. i also really love Silver’s “I hope I’m there to catch a bit of the light coming off yer sails” from treasure planet. and of course everything ever said by black sails.
🌹!
If he had to describe the feeling, he would say it is like trying to think of something, but not like trying to remember the past or a fact he knows. It’s like trying to remember the present.
nonbinarybriarmoss replied to your post: i yawn immediately upon hearing the phrase ‘magic...
i feel like so many sff writers these days spend far more time developing a needlessly complex “magical system” that wants to sound smart than actually developing their characters and narratives and it…..shows
ding ding ding
@nonbinarybriarmoss replied to your post “I’ll never understand how Loghain got such a dedicated fanbase, he’s...”
there's.....a loghain fanbase...??
surprised but not surprised tbh
yup and idk what they’re up to nowadays but back in the day they could get rabid and were really vehement that liking Loghain was social justice praxis, lmao. And shipping him with their Wardens, which, more power to them, but it was crazy how they would call things he did in DAO that they didn’t like noncanon and ooc.
I guess it’s just fun to go against the narrative and root for the villain. But it’s pretty weird to then start hating on the rest of fandom who still think he’s a villain.
