Apon further speculation, I think im gonna hc Shiver as She/They- so that I dont keep feeling like the entire game is misgendering them. Plus its funky and I like it- still non-binary, but still identifying as female. Suck it Nintendo.
Edit: here’s hoping the Japanese version of the full game proves NOA wrong!!
By the way, it wasn’t Nintendo that said that Shiver was ‘female’. It was Nintendo of America specifically. You know… The ones who changed Gracie’s gender from male to female because he was a gender nonconforming male? And the ones who censored Vivian being a canon trans woman? And the ones that changed Kirby from being a genderless character to being a boy? In other words, the ones with a literal repeated, verifiable history of censoring gender nonconforming and trans characters?
Edit: Apparently, not just ‘the ones’… THE EXACT SAME DUDE who was involved with localizing, and thus, censoring The Thousand Year Door (the game that Vivian was from) was the one who answered the question about Shiver’s gender.
