Not Him
Jemey remembered the relief that flooded through their veins when they heard over the radio that they had found him. They had volunteered to be on the search team for a missing child.Â
The kid in question was the youngest of the Fenton family, Danny. It was his sister that had called in, apparently half way through his first year at high school his depression had skyrocketed.Â
He had had left behind a note telling his family that he was taking a hike in the nearby wooded area to calm himself down, and she had thought that he was going into the woods to unalive himself.
It was bizarre really, for family that eccentric, people stopped thinking of the Fenton’s as actual people and more of a landmark or maybe the state bird or something like that. It really hadn't hit them that these were actual real people, and not some kind of town attraction until they were trudging through the forest calling out for their lost son who was possibly dead. But they had found him nonetheless, completely fine.
Really it was a little strange, normally anyone who got lost in the woods for four days would have at least one scratch on them but other than that he was fine, physically that is.
He wouldn’t talk or eat in front of anyone or look anyone in the eye, which to be fair Jemey struggles with the last two as well. It was around that time that their sisters cat went missing as well, but now that they think about it a lot of pets went missing around that time.Â
Soon missing pets turned to missing person reports and those reports turned to corpses. At first the town had thought there was a pack of wolves on the loose, as the bodies were found ripped apart as if an animal had gotten to them. Soon the thought turned to a serial killer due to the killings falling in a pattern, always at night, often in the alleys and always alone.
This all started up five months ago when they had brought Danny Fenton home. But now as they looked over the paper that held the DNA test of the victim and over to the small, mangled corpse they thought to themselves,
what they had brought home was not Danny Fenton.
