"Well you don't feel too hot, has anything else been bothering you? Perhaps we should send for a healer, someone could give you a quick check over make sure you're not coming down with some odd magical illness?"

"Arthur, it's fine honestly I would just like to go off to bed, but if it will make you feel better, I'll have a bite to eat before hand and then head off to sleep, alright?" Merlin suggested.

"Alright, alright you win, now come on over to the table I grabbed the food off the servants as I was coming in," Arthur said with a smile, and so the Queen of Camelot sat down at their table and enjoyed a lovely meal with her king, before heading off to bed for an early night.

Merlin was rudely awaken by the terrible need to vomit up their dinner from last night.

Stumbling blindly out of bed he used her magic to pulled a bucket towards himself and keeled over releasing their dinner into the formally used for cleaning bin.

"Merlin!" he heard her husband yelp.

"It's late, just wanna go back to sleep, I'm so so so tired," she moaned into Arthur's shoulder.

"I know, I know, but please just let someone look you over, I'm sure your uncle would be happy to do it if you don't want to see a castle healer."

"Don't wanna bother him, besides he's retired don't you recall," they grumbled irritated.

"Fine then, but first thing in the morning, you're letting Healer Effa give you a proper check up, now let me help you up to bed, you look even more shattered then before dinner," Arthur muttered, and so with the help of his husband the realm of sleep took over once more.

"So, aside from the exhaustion, and the vomiting have you had any other symptoms your majesty?" asked Healer Effa as she knelt down, taking Merlin's pulse and looking over their body.

"Well the vomiting last night was new but I have felt more nauseous lately, but most of all I've just felt exhausted, especially the last week, but it's midwinter mind you we're all resting more, so it is rather a bit odd," he explained.

"Any lower abdomen cramping, mood swings, dizzy spells, increased food intake?" Effa asked.

"No to the first and last one, but um definitely yes to the other too, wait do you think?" Merlin asked her eyes widening looking quickly at his husband, who too had gone from concerned to smiling.

"Well, if you let me just have a feel of your belly and let my magic flow with yours I can answer that very quickly," chuckled the kindly healer.

"Yes, of course," they said sitting up, and pulling up her tunic, allowing the healer to place two hands on their belly.

It felt like the longest few moments of his life as she waited for the healer to answer, when Effa removed her hands and looked at the King and Queen with a wide smile.

"Well then I suppose congratulations are in order your majesties, an heir is indeed on their way. It is very early in your pregnancy Merlin, likely only 4-5 weeks along. I'll give you a tonic to take for the nausea and obviously you will come by the healing center or call for myself or another healer whenever you need, now you get some rest my Queen, and do inform someone if anything else is needed," the healer said placing a little green tonic on their beside and leaving with a bow out the door.

Merlin felt the arms of their husband wrap around him with such joy.

Leaning into his embrace, Merlin laughed, "Gods above I can't believe it's finally happened, our little heir, is growing here, right in here!" Merlin grabbed Arthur's hand and place it beneath hers on his belly.

"Now then, why don't we celebrate with a nice snuggle and nap, you heard Effa you need rest," tutted Arthur and Merlin chuckled.

"Alright alright, I'll rest, but first I'd like to hold you, let us just breathe and be happy for our future," Merlin said kissing their husband on the nose.

Arthur climbed into bed grasping Merlin close and kissing her neck lightly.
