#non-driver

1. The bus doesn't go to "x" place at "y" time so no I cannot access that event.

2. Waiting for a friend to finish their conversations because you need that ride home 2 hours later....

3. Getting stranded on the north side of town because you forgot it was Sunday and the buses don't run that late...

4. All kinds of strange and toxic smells on the bus

5. 100 degree heat, AC broke on the bus OR 100 degree heat and the bus is 50 degrees freezing!

6. That random stranger that won't stop trying to talk to you even though you're Deaf

7. The driver announcing a detour and everyone knows but you

8. People can't find your apt to pick you up

9. Moving is impossible.....hire a driver

This guy cuts across three lanes of traffic to go the opposite direction down the street.  Normal, right?  The problem is: he does this way too slow.  I was going the speed limit but literally had to slam on my brakes.  He had his kid in the freaking back sleep and pulled out that fucking slow.

As I slid, I swear everything was in slow motion.  I even saw the look in his toddler's eyes.  Any 4 year old would be scared looking at that without knowing what was going on.  Shit, I was scared.

Anyway, I also saw that shit parent was talking on the phone while this was happening.

]8 I hate driving. I really do. I don't want to learn how to, I don't want a licence, I don't want to waste my money on a car or anything it needs. Hell, a good portion of the year I don't even need a car - because I have to take the train and subway into school and usually when I'm in school I get all my shit done before or after I go to class because it's all close enough or I know the subway lines well enough to do so.

But Long Island public transportation is HORRIBLE. And walking places here sucks too because even if distance isn't an issue, nobody here walks and I don't like walking by myself in the suburbs because it's so boring and, if I'm going to be honest, I don't feel safe. I literally felt safer walking to Penn Station from Gramercy Theater at night, by myself, than I do walking by myself out here. 

Meanwhile I have like three paychecks sitting around because I haven't been able to get to the bank, I can't visit friends because the ONE BUS close by my house doesn't go anywhere besides Jamaica and the other buses are either the next town over or across town. I know I can do it, but I already have a hard time with buses (I can only make out subway maps) and I'd rather not get lost out here where I don't know my ass from my elbow.
