Two months after the Guard officially moves to Coruscant, the lawyer shows up. _ In which Obi-Wan Kenobi never returns to the Jedi order after the war on Melidaa/Dann and instead finds another way to follow the Force's will. Namely, by fighting sentient-rights abuses all over the galaxy and emancipating the Grand Army of the Republic, one clone trooper at a time.

After

Later it seems their lives were divided into Before Mahendra and After; Devasena, when she allows herself to dwell on it, is frankly frightened at the intensity of her feelings.

Passion

Elephants are not the first interest Mahendra’s fickle heart has settled upon; and certainly this passion, Baahubali assumes, shall be as short-lived as the rest.

Trip

Mahendra skips all the way to the docks: even if not the mountaintops, only imagine what wonders Kuntala might hold in store for him!

Reason

Logically, Sivagami ought to be content with Bhalla’s child as heir; logically, she ought to think no more of his son than any other village boy, but—oh, logic is helpless before her heart.

Pride

Mahendra, despite his clear anxiety, holds his head high and his voice steady in the throne room of Mahishmati; and Baahubali, despite his despair, cannot help but be proud of him.

Regret

“But I don’t want to be a prince anymore,” says Mahendra, his lower lip pursed; his parents, who feel much the same, have no comfort to offer him.

Dreaming

Mahendra has grown quite old enough for a sibling, Devasena thinks; but that dream comes to a quick end before the danger that the news of Varuni’s pregnancy presents.

Greed

Kattappa treasures the hours he can spend with Mahendra, and stores them up in his memory; for this, as for everything, there is a price he must pay.

Before

Gopu is impossible, his stomach growls, and the sun is beginning to set; so Mahendra sets out to find Father, for he knows no other remedy for a foul temper.

Difficulty

Mahendra struggles with his letters, but learns his sums easily enough; Baahubali, who found matters the other way around, cannot explain it.

Beauty

“Beauty is nothing before such boldness,” Devasena overhears a minister whisper in the throne room: an insult as much to Varuni as to herself.

Pretend

“No, no, no!” Mahendra, frustrated, explains to Father yet again. “You’re supposed to be the bandit, and Mother the princess, and I’m the warrior come to save her!”

Envy

Just once, Bhalla thinks, it would be something to be jealous of what he does possess; rather than envious of that what he does not.

Peace

Seven years of happiness, Baahubali reminds himself on the eve of the battle; seven more than he ever hoped to have.

Weather

Seventy-five years ago today, Superman debuted in the pages of Action Comics #1 (cover dated June 1938), introducing the Man of Steel, Clark Kent and Lois Lane to the world, courtesy of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. 

This also marks the one-year anniversary of this blog! In the last twelve months, I've managed to catalog Superman's story as it's played out in two ongoing comics, a radio serial, both the daily and Sunday newspaper and a handful of assorted appearances, and that still only takes us up through late 1940!
