so, you will indeed need to bleach your hair a lot if you are brunette like me. this must be done professionally at a salon or you could risk destroying your hair! kits will also not give you enough color extraction chemical to be able to deposit the blue and have it show up... 

also, blue is the BEST color to dye your hair if you want longevity! i did my hair purple, green, pink, and blue in a rainbow-ish style, and the blue and purple stayed the same color as the day i put them in whereas the pink and the green faded out to blonde over the six months i had it! blue will be so worth your money. it stays in amazingly ~<3

price depends on how much color you want to deposit, how many different colors you’ve chosen to put in, what salon you are getting it done at (more prestigious salons will cost more), and how much hair you have! i have hair down to my bottom so… mine is a bit pricier. at my salon, i think i paid around $300-$400 for my current pink ombre, and the last oil slick i had with purple, green, and blue was around $200-$300 because it was only partial color (like really pigmented highlights… i guess.. o_O) 

my salon isn’t as well-known or attached to a brand name, so it’s a lot cheaper, whereas my mother who has natural blonde hair, a pixie cut, and only gets tiny pink highlights has to pay $600 for her color because she goes to a high-end brand name salon. 

maintainence is typically just washing your hair every 4 days. i usually wash mine every 5 and dry shampoo at the roots every day. you have to use shampoo + conditioner and other hair products that have no sulfates in them! i recommend using a leave in conditioner or hydrating products, as well, to keep the colors vibrant and the texture of your hair soft and manageable~
