It’s been a while since we’ve seen this. I apologize, but I had to get the information on an extremely powerful demon, Nokturnus, also known as the Dark Dream, or Drium as it was spelled sometimes...
Nokturnus is a Rank-X, 1-slot member of the Demon Family. He can’t be found anywhere, and must be synthesized by crossing Dr.Snapped with Dhuran. Nokturnus is well known in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in DQ6′s post game, and working his way into many other games after that, including the new Heroes, almost always as the strongest enemy in each game...by far.
Despite that, his stats are...pretty average for a rank X monster. With Uber Attack Boost, the Rank S Fencing Fox surpasses him in every stat. Regardless, Nokturnus has Tactical Trooper and Hit Squad for three hits. With this, he can really do some damage to single opponents. He has Counterstriker as well, but his defenses are a little too low to take too many hits. And Foot Drager, Foot Drager always sucks. That’s why I recommend taking Defense Boost 3. This boosts your defense as well as your HP, giving you some extra staying power. With your high attack, and many hits, you’re going to want to emphasize on slash attacks. I prefer DarkLight Slashes as it comes with Mercurial Thrust and Miracle Slash as well as Sacred, Shadow and Singeing Slash. Lastly, a skillset with Oomph is very helpful. I prefer Missing Lynx or Wulfspade 2. Missing Lynx gives you Counter and Kasag to help deal with physical enemies, as well as Thin Air, and Cremate to hit everyone, and Snooze to try and get a bit of crowd control. Wulfspade 2 on the other hand gives you Oomphle for the whole party, and also Kasag, but you trade the offensive attacks for Kamikaze and Kerplunk for last ditch actions. If you’d rather have another monster set up Oomph, than Diminisher would work well. This gives you debuff attacks like Slowing Slug, Weakening Wallop and Blinding Blow as well as Seal attacks like Breath-taking bash. Combined with your three hits, and possibly Oomph, you can do serious damage while potentially crippling enemies.
Nokturnus’ standard attack, delivered via counter.
