My favourite Dragon Quest Ships
1. Sharkeye’s ship from Dragon Quest VII
This is without a doubt the BIGGEST ship in the entire franchise. It takes up a good chunk of the screen and its design is FANTASTIC! It’s basically a floating city. There are trees, grass, inns, shops etc. On this ship and I LOVE IT! Not to mention that you can actually see this ship trapped in ice under a waterfall for a large chunk of the game, having it just out of reach. Thus making the moment you DO finally get it and get to sail the seven seas with it all the more rewarding.
2. The Ship from Dragon Quest IX
This choice I admit is 100% bias because DQIX was my very first dragon quest game and my first jrpg ever and my top 1 game of all time, period. What I love the most about this game is the story regarding how you acquire it and the fact i can just walk around on deck. I can actually interact with this ship and I love it!
3. Dragon Quest VIII
I have NO idea why that ship is built like that. But on god I love it. It’s so creative! The little propeller on top is something I’ve never seen before or since on a fictional ship. I need more random stuff like this on JRPG boats. The only thing that annoys me is that i cannot walk around on the deck of tge ship. If DQVIII ever gets a remake, let me interact with the ship apart from just navigating it. Let me climb up to that dang propeller.
4. The salty stallion Dragon Quest XI
A beautiful ship and it belongs to one of my fave characters in the entire series: everyone’s darling Sylvando. Despite absolutely adoring the design, I hate that I cannot interact with the ship and run around on deck. I can only drive it.
