We went to our local Michael's craft store today because we still have a Christmas wreathe on our front door. So, I'm going to turn it into an Easter wreathe. I don't know why but having a colorful and festive decoration on the door makes it that much nicer to come home. We walk into the store and they promptly hand Beansprout a balloon. Without a string. You can probably guess how that goes. We managed to slip by without getting Juni one. Alas. The worker CHASED US DOWN to give her one. We are now in the car and both kids are screaming because the stringless balloons bounced away.

Every year stores do this too early and I rant about it. Then I tell myself next year I will not be “negative” and complain about it. So this year I’m not complaining I’m merely asking a question. Why do stores do this? Why are they devoting so much square footage to things people don’t bother with till at least mid-November? Seriously half of Big Lots is like dead space right now.
