2711 Dauphine St, Engine No. 24, New Orleans, LA. In April 1829, a group of men organized to become the first volunteer fire brigade known as the Firemen's Charitable Association. It was several more years, December 1891, before that volunteer group became the paid New Orleans Fire Department. The original Engine No. 24 Firehouse was built during the time of horse drawn fire engines. That portion of the stables is still apart of the property with the newer Victorian style brick building being built in front. It has new been renovated and used a licensed short term rental.
