being part of the mafia feels like being part of corporate a lot of time. there’s always something to keep track of, something to check up on, the fear of having your boss yell at you. though, of course, corporate doesn’t usually require guns or your boss literally threatening to take your life, but the general idea is mostly the same - getting as much money and power as possible, even at the cost of your employees’ health (or life). 

it’s a bit twisted, seungjin supposes, to equate something as horrible as gangs and violence to something so tediously conventional as documents and office drama, but whether seungjin is dealing with paperwork in the hospital or the organisational part of drug producing, he can’t really find that much of a difference. so going from one place to the other feels like just more of the same, even if both are needed for him to survive, and are, technically, exciting. 

as he parks his car and gets out, he briefly thinks about how fun it would be to have a shoot out or a bombing today. fucked up, yes, but fun? always. or mostly. unless he ends up having his hands deep in someone’s guts. the walk up to the main production facility is long and seungjin wonders why couldn’t they have a sort of a walk in and everything’s right there convenience store set up. obviously that wouldn’t be as cool and secretive as what they have currently, but it would sure save his legs.

there’s many twists and turns, and corridors that lead to dead ends (honestly, who came up with the plan of this building?) that it’s easy to get lost if you don’t know where you’re going. easy to get killed, if you’re not a usual here, too. seungjin’s mind races, even when he’s not thinking about much specifically, but his thoughts are cut short when a body appears from behind a corner and seungjin smashes right into him.

“what the-”

seungjin raises his eyebrows at the taller man in front of him. 

an intruder? a rival gang member? he looks too baby to be in a gang, but then again, so does seungjin.

“did you get lost on your way to a hagwon?”

2. our muses decorating the christmas tree — @noeulmi

Seulgi has a long thread of lights in her hands, that she may or may not be tangled in them at her feet, but she pushes that to the side for now, mind preoccupied trying to check if any of the lights needed replaced — and keeping track of her surroundings and the whereabouts of the other as she does so.

“Y’know, I didn’t think this is what I would be doing today…but I’m definitely not mad about it.” she comments idly, slowly moving the lights through her hands, untangling them as she goes. The task itself is almost bittersweet in a way; sure, in the recent years she had had help decorating trees for the season, but it never quite felt the same as it once did, like that of her ‘childhood’ home (if it could be called that). And as she found her mind wandering, she had to remind herself to step into the present again — she didn’t need to be getting emotional in front of one of her fellow gang members. 

“How are you doing over there? I’m about done with checking and untangling, if the tree is ready for the lights?” she looks up and over to him as she speaks,waiting to see what she needed to do next.
