SOULFUL NERDâS PARIS HOTSPOTS
Letâs say youâre only going to be in Paris for a day or two... these are the things I recommend you MUST experience:
1) A tour on the Seine river at night by boat.
2) Visitng the Eiffel Tower right before midnight. At midnight it is light like the Rockefeller Center christmas tree for about 30 seconds or so. Just donât go too close to the tower though or your pictures will suck.
3) Visit Mona. It will take almost an hour to get to the spot inside of the Louvre where she is nestled, but you should definitely at least peek at her to say you did. And in the wing of the Louvre immediately before the section sheâs in, thereâs an amazingly beautiful section featuring gems, and multiple royal trinkets that literally took my breath away. Go there AFTER seeing Mona though. Itâs a lengthy journey to her, so donât get sidetracked.
4) Purchase a Tour Passport from the France Tourism Office: http://www.francetourisme.fr/paris-sightseeing-tour/paris-discovery-passport.html  This is the best deal yet. For once set price, this passport will pay for public transport, entrance to museums, city tours, etc. Read the details carefully before purchasing though. And by all means: DONâT LOSE THE CARD. Â
5) Go to Le Grand Bistro go to this restaurant for dinter (every night if you can afford it). There are multiple locations so find the one most convenient for your schedule. They have an amaaaaaaaaazing 4 or 5-course dinner for under $50. My family enjoyed it so much, we back a second time. Set aside 3 hours (or more) to get through all of the amazing courses and drinks included. And be sure to make a reservation! http://www.legrandbistro.fr/uk/index.php
6) Taxis are kinda expensive in Paris, so to avoid missing and appointments, give yourself between an hour to and hour and a half to get to and from everywhere using public transportation: download the app for the local metro system, SNCF; also download an offline paris metro map (much easier than carrying a big paper one with you all day).
7) If you plan to stay out after midnight, pick up the night bus (Noctilien) mini-map (so you can conceal it a bit and not look super touristy) and ask a metro station attendant to explain the night bus system to you thoroughly. It can be very confusing at first. These buses donât stop at all metro stops, so you may have to walk further than you normally would during the day back to your hotel. So have screenshots of all the map routes needed before leaving WIFI!Â
8) If u like sweets or bread: go to any bakery (boulangerie) and get at least 3-4 things everyday that youâve never eaten before and prepare to cry with joy. One thing that blew my mind on my last trip was an almond croissant my cousin bough and had me try... Jesus....  It sounded boring, so I never considered trying one before that day. Where have they been all my life!!! And there's this cookie that looks like a big macaroon with cream in the middle - get it. Jesus is real...
9) Have an additional battery back. For some reason, it can be challenging to find public places to charge your electronics (much like in NYC...sigh).
10) Smile, say âmerciâ a whole lot and be patient, youâll have a nerderific time!!!
Funkfully,
Brotha Ken :p

Adventures on the Paris Night Bus
My time in Paris is coming to an end. Two more weeks from yesterday, and I'll be flying back to the good ol' USA. With so little time left, of course I have to spend as much time as I can with the people who won't be in my life again until next September. Unfortunately, our movie-watching, tea-drinking, fun-time party session went a little bit too long. I managed to catch one train, but missed my connection. Service to a metro stop somewhat near my home stay had stopped for the night. You can do one of four things when the Paris Metro stops working.  1. Take a taxi home  2. Walk home.  3. Take the Noctilien Bus home.  4. Wait until the Metro reopens. Obviously, option four is no bueno. I refuse to spend a night in the metro. That's just unsafe, not to mention unsanitary. Option two, no dice. I was to far away to walk home, and if I had tried, my feet would have fallen off. Let's just say I wasn't wearing the most ideal walking shoes. Maybe if I had been wearing my running shoes and had been a little closer to home. Maybe. Option one didn't work either. I'm broker than a broke college student, and I can't spend money I don't have right? So Option 3 it is. The Noctilien. The Noctilien is the night bus, the only public transportation available after the metro closes. I had never taken it before tonight, and let's just say I was a little wary. The stories I had heard were horrible. Drunk party-goers puking up the contents of their stomachs, drunkards pissing in the corner, people being loud and rambunctious. I was nervous. I hate seeing people puke, the smell of pee is gross, and rambunctious people tend to turn into dangerous people. Luckily, there was a Noctilien stop that led almost straight to my house at the metro I was stranded in. So I waited. 14 minutes left till the bus got there. Ok. I could do it, I could wait there and get home. Then some shady Parisian "gangstahs" arrived, playing music on their iPhones and trying to be all ghetto and tough. Unfortunately, I can't really take you seriously when you're wearing a man-purse. Especially if you're trying to be tough. Especially if it's a designer murse. Ten minutes later, the bus arrived and I got on, trying to figure out how to work a new mode of transportation. I looked around, luckily, the worst I could see were a group of tipsy people and some hooligans in the back playing some sort of rap (Also: French rap does not make you sound tough.) There were no more seats, so I stood in a corner and tried to keep my head down. I just needed to make it home and all would be well. Then an old man approached me. Let me get one thing straight. I don't talk to people at all on public transportation. That's just weird and a little creepy. Anyway, he approached me with a pen in hand and some paper with numbers on it and a badge that said "Enqueteur". Remembering the gypsy signature scams we were warned about, I just shook my head when he asked me a question. I couldn't even hear him. He was speaking so softly, in French, and on the bus, which, as I mentioned before, was filled with the dulcet sounds of French rap. Then he asked me why I didn't want to answer and I just used the age old technique "Je ne parle pas français." He shook his head and walked away. You might wonder why I'm telling you thins and I'm asking myself the same question. Maybe it's because It was the most eventful thing that happened on the ride home. Thank goodness. So, I got home safe and sound, and went to bed. Now I know that the Noctilien is nothing to be feared. I wonder what adventure Paris is gonna throw at me next...

according to the Plan. things change but God is alway Good. He is the Universe, Life and EVERYTHING in itÂ
course, i cant actually say what God truly is--besides mind blowing--but it is Infinite and in the Infinite i shall trust
ive done nothing to deserve any of these experiences, "in the city was a sinner, i've done a lot of things wrong but i swear im a believer" and yet He continues to bless me. its insane
sometimes i freak out abt what is happening with the World, that me personally am wasting so much time and doing everything wrong...but then i remember the craziness of what Hope is, and that if you trust in what you believe, there is nothing to fear. in God, absolutely ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD IS POSSIBLE
do good and be good âŽ
