1: Have you ever permanently put down a book without finishing it? If so, why and when?
No, there were a lot of times that I wanted to... but somehow I clung on to the hope that it would get better and read them to the end.
Loads of times in between I would set it down, yell at it, and pick it up again, hahaha.
2: Have you ever read a book with such beautiful language it took your breath away? Any examples?
I don't think i'm literature-savvy enough to answer this question right, umm.... Shakespeare.
3: What’s your favourite ‘classic’ book?
OH BOY. I can't say for sure because I'm currently working on a few...
4: What’s your least favourite book you were forced to read in school?
HMM... The Chrysalids. But my memory is so lousy, I don't remember why I didn't like it.
5: What book were you forced to read in school that you ended up adoring? If you didn’t adore any books in school, what books should they ADD to the curriculum?
Mrs. Frisbee and the Rats of NIMH, The Outsiders, The Giver, Tuck Everlasting... actually this one teacher made us read a LOT of good books, we were 9 so he couldn't make us read 1984 but boy did he want to. He also challenged us to read the Lord of the Rings.
haha, every book he dished out at us are my favourites.
PLUS How to Kill a Mockingbird.
6: Favourite series of books?
THIS IS NOT A FAIR QUESTION. I'm really indecisive soo....
There's... Harry Potter, Redwall, Journey to the West, The Dark Tower (though i'm still in the middle of this one), Cirque du Freak, A Song of Ice and Fire, Animorphs....and i know i'm forgetting some...
7: Do you prefer series, or stand-alones?
My wallet prefers stand-alones. My brain loves long reads. My bookshelf and bedroom-floor want me to stop altogether.
8: Favourite non-fiction?
Ahh..... sort of? Most of the non-fiction i read is about weapons, war history, deadly plants, diseases and cute animals, lmao.
9: How do you feel about audiobooks?
I think that they're great for when your hands are busy. Exercising, arting, gardening, driving, whatever you like. Or if you have poor eyesight.
But I avoid them when I can because I don't always agree with the readers inflections or tone.
I also like to revisit/dwell on passages I like and holding a book/e-reader gives me that freedom.
10: Are you a re-reader? Or do you tend to read books once and then leave them?
I think of myself as a re-reader... But if I'm honest, some books that I want to reread have emotionally scarred me so badly I'm scared to even touch them.
11: Have you read any short stories? If so, which are your favourites?
Edgar. Allan. Poe. I bought a compilation of his works last week and I'm still working through them, but really enjoying them so far.
