🖤 𝔑𝔬 𝔪𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔟𝔞𝔡 𝔡𝔞𝔶𝔰 🖤 A year ago today, I sat in the ER at Mount Sinai. What I thought brought me there wasn’t what I left with. For awhile I had been dealing with issues with my body, that eventually put me in enough pain to make me do something about it. When the nurse came in my room for the second time asking to take another blood draw, I knew something wasn’t right. That was the day I was told I had what they suspected was leukaemia. I’ve never cried so hard in my life. Never sent so many texts to friends and family. I didn’t understand what just happened. Easily the worst day of my life. The doctors caught it in the chronic phase. (The earliest stage in regards to cancer) I’ve now been on TKI treatment for over 9 months. My body is responding well to treatment, and the side effects are getting easier month to month. Skin rashes, runny nose, nausea, fatigue & a bit of a toll on my liver. It’s nothing I can’t deal with, and happy I’ve been able to continue to work during this time. Nothing is going to stop me from doing the one thing I love. I’ve had an amazing support system since day one and I’m grateful for them all. The waters were pretty rough today, but those that dare to ride the rough waters reap the rewards. I caught another 2 nice sized bull dorado aka mahi mahi (the fish so nice they named it twice), and the old man pulled in a striped marlin. Usually we catch & release the marlin, but it got hooked in the belly, and the hook tore its belly to the gills, so it died when it got up to the side of the boat. My dad kept a little of the meat to eat tonight, and we gave the rest to some of the locals. So while it’s unfortunate we couldn’t release it, nothing will go to waste. It was a great way to close out the fishing for this trip.
