Time passed quickly that season, yet somehow not quickly enough. Ian barely had to do any wedding planning. The Dukes coordinated the menu. The Duchesses handled guests and invitations. Meadowbrook’s staff prepared the decor and music.

This was a business deal, after all, with romance merely a footnote.

Ian found his own romance, sneaking away to the servant quarters on every visit, evading Edmund, indulging in Mickey's willing flesh.

When the big day finally came, Mickey opened the door to the groom's parlor looking immaculate in his single-breasted waistcoat.
