#no spectators

Some of my favorites from the Burning Man: No Spectators exhibit at the Renwick Gallery.

My drawing does NOT do this justice. Presenting the untitled work of HYBYCOZO (short for Hyper Bypass Construction Zone from the Hitchhiker's Guide novels), as part of No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man.

When this exhibit was open at the Renwick, I think I visited it at least seven times over the course of it's run. The idea of large scale artworks, creating alter egos, and wearing elaborate costumes in the middle of a desert for several days was mega interesting to me.

Seeing artists bring their work from Black Rock City to the Renwick gave me so much excitement and inspiration. HYBYCOZO's geometrical light sculptures feel about as futuristic and fantastical as their name implies. I'm a huge fan of artists bringing a piece of fantasy to our daily reality and this is no exception.

Shrumen Lumen by Foldhaus Collective, as part of the Renwick's No Spectators: Art of Burning Man exhibit, is a wildly imaginative depiction of interactive art.

Using origami as their primary inspiration, Foldhaus creates these whimsical, plant-like sculptures, most of which can move. When the ring at the foot of the sculpture becomes green, patrons can step into that spot and watch the mushroom grow or shrink.
