Hey guys, sorry there was no live read yesterday!
Most of you know I’m a film student, but I don’t think many of you know that, because I live in a rural area, I mostly pay my rent/tuition by working as a camera operator and PA for a lot of local news orgs. Which means that when things like, say, a concert happens, I get emailed.
So yea, I’ve been working a concert all weekend. I’ll try to live read a bit more later, depending on my free time. Thanks for being patient!

Tonight, I’m going to go film a version of the ghost scene from Hamlet, with one camera, minimal lighting and props, and I’m completely dubbing the entire thing because I have no trained actors and so the two people I’m borrowing don’t really know how to recite Shakespeare.

I’m currently taking a class in screen culture and it’s already super awkward cause I’m the only undergrad in it and I feel like a 12 y/o. But today was easily the worst because we talked about fan communities and culture, and how fandoms impact media, and all of this ended with my 50+ y/o straight dude teacher showing us and deconstructing a Spok/Kirk amv on YouTube.

Worst part of being a film student: imagining a really cool scene and planning it all out, all of the shots and colors and music in your head. And then remembering that you have A.) no time, equitment, or people to film this with, and B.) no context for the scene itself to exist
