Niric Roan has spent his life relying on very few people. His mother died giving birth to him, and with no family to speak of, he grew up in Madam Malloria’s Home for Orphans. In that time, he became incredibly close to one Konnor Serind, and the two began to view each other as the brother they never had.
Dark-skinned among the people of Lighton, Niric was regularly accused of being half Avarite, which he vehemently refused. It was these accusations that taught Niric how to fight, run, and hide. When he was 7 years old, Niric met a cunning old man who taught him all the things he needed to know to be a thief. By the time he was 9, the old man had named Niric Captain of his gang, the Pox, and Niric left Madam Malloria’s.
Years later, tragedy struck, and Niric set out with a traveling mage, who began his tutelage in magic, dueling, and politics. When he finally arrived at the Nexus, Niric was placed in the Second Years classes. His brusque nature made him a target among the elite, and Niric searched his peers for allies.
But when a forbidden kind of magic is mentioned, Niric begins to learn that not everything in this new environment was accepted, and his sharp mind is drawn to the secret of Making magic. Could this be the weapon he needed for his revenge? Or was there a good reason no one speaks of it?
