Samesh’s restaurant
no one:
me: I wonder how exactly Samesh Bhatia came to know Udina well enough that Udina actually extended an offer to him to pass along a message to the no-longer-dead Commander Shepard. Like Udina probably doesn’t offer to forward most citizens’ mail for them. Maybe Udina was a regular at that restaurant that Samesh opened on the Citadel? Maybe at first Samesh offered to let him eat for free too, just like the Alliance soldiers, but Udina insists on paying since he makes a very comfortable salary anyway, and anyway he supports human businesses on the Citadel?
And maybe the Alliance got a ton of personnel to attend the restaurant‘s grand opening as a way to promote both the restaurant and the Alliance’s public image, and Udina participated in that too, but he loved the food so much he kept coming back. And eventually Samesh hears the rumors that Shepard is alive or maybe he knew someone who actually saw Shepard when they were on the Citadel. And so the next time Udina stops by, Samesh mentions the rumors and also how Shepard helped him back in 2183. And then Udina makes the offer to pass on a message of Samesh wants, and Samesh takes him up on it.
And what did Samesh name his restaurant? Where was it located on the Citadel, what ward? And does he reopen it eventually after the war?
I mean, yes, of course he reopens it after the war. Maybe not on the Citadel, considering its state, but somewhere.
And maybe this time around, the second grand opening, Commander Shepard themself actually attends. And it’s a whole big thing, a moment amidst all the grief and rebuilding to celebrate galactic survival and an end to the cycle and all the work everyone has been doing since the war ended. It’s a sign of their perseverance and it’s a sign of hope.
And this time, Nirali’s picture no longer hangs alone on the wall. Her picture is the biggest, but now it’s the central piece in a collage of pictures of so many who were lost in the war. Samesh’s restaurant nourishes the body, yes, but it also nourishes the heart. It’s a warm and inviting place where one can sit for awhile and remember.
Okay but if you do the Intimidate option with regards to Nirali Bhatia and then take the neutral option, you get the most SATISFYING answer. "She had a name. She was not an it. She died to save people. If you're going to medically experiment on her, USE HER FUCKING NAME. Also let her husband have a fucking funeral with her body you fuckface."
And the diplomat that called her "it" is the whitest of white bread and she is very obviously not. Neither is her husband. The implications of racism just make that response EVEN BETTER.
