How familiar are you with the concepts of aramitama and nigimitama in shinto philosophy?
I am not a follower of shinto and don’t know any shinto-believing people personally, so I am familiar with these concepts by exposure in anime and video games, but not familiar with them in the sense that I have a deep understanding of their philosophical underpinnings beyond “aramitama is the embodiment of a spirit’s rage, hatred, misery, negative feelings, etc.” and “nigimitama is the embodiment of a spirit’s peace and harmony.”
It’s my understanding that these concepts function similarly in Noragami to how they are seen in real life, with a god’s aramitama being quelled in favor of nigimitama by the peaceful behavior and guidance of their shinki and the prayers of their followers.
#NigiMitama #ニギミタマ #Nigimitama The calm and functional state of a person's soul, or kami, which is considered to be the opposite of Ara Mitama. The Ara Mitama must first be pacified with rites and worship before the Nigi Mitama will appear.
