Reform treasurer also joins talks at Donald Trumpās home as far-right party says āwe can do great things togetherā
Britain, check your laws regarding big money in politics. You may need to strengthen them!
Elon is making nice with Nigel Farage of the far right "Reform Party" with an eye on insinuating himself into UK politics as he has done in the US.
With Labour's enormous majority in Parliament, the party should take steps to make it difficult for billionaires to manipulate national politics.
Elon Musk has met Nigel Farage and Nick Candy, Reform UKās new treasurer, at Donald Trumpās home in Mar-a-Lago, reviving speculation the tech billionaire could fund the hard-right party. After the meeting on Monday, Reform released photos of Musk sitting with Farage and Candy, and standing with them beneath a portrait of a young Trump at the US president-electās Florida home. The party released a statement by the Reform leader and Candy in which they said they had met Musk for an hour. āWe learned a great deal about the Trump ground game and will have ongoing discussions on other areas,ā it added. āWe only have one more chance left to save the west and we can do great things together. Our thanks also to President Trump for allowing us to use Mar-a-Lago for this historic meeting. The special relationship is alive and well.ā
Elon Putz isn't messing around with the hapless Conservatives. He wants to supercharge the hard right in Britain.
Musk, who has waged an increasingly personal campaign against Keir Starmer and the Labour party, earlier this month denied a report that he was planning to make a Ā£78m donation to Reform. However, there will now be increased speculation that he could intervene in UK politics and help Reformās prospects before next yearās local elections. Writing in the Telegraph on Tuesday night, Farage said: āThere is little doubt that Muskās contribution to the scale of the Trump victory is not to be underestimated. I have come home with copious notes of how they increased the turnout, voter registration and so much more, and all of this I intend to implement as part of the professionalisation of our party.ā
I don't know exactly how constituents in the UK interact with their MPs. However it's done, this is a good time to contact yours and sound the alarm. Don't let Elon convert the prime minister's residence into Number 10-a-Lago.

What is it with it with right-wing billionaires and millionaires who call for pay restraint and cuts to pensions for ordinary working people? Are they afraid we will all become rich like them?Ā Even stranger, and beyond logical explanation, is the large number of ordinary working people who are prepared to vote for political parties that promote such policies.Ā
The popular political movement in the UK right now seems to be towards the far right and Reform UK, a party run and owned by billionaires and millionaires, many of whom were previous Conservative Party members ā Nigel Farage, Richard Tice, James McMurdock, Lee Anderson, Rupert Lowe, Nick Candy to name but a few.
Of these, Nigel Farage, Richard Tice, Lee Anderson, Robert Lowe, Nick Candy are all millionaires or multi millionaires. Following Richard Tice calling for lower public sector pay awards, Nigel Farage is now calling for lower pensions for public sector workers.
"Public sector pensions are the single biggest ticking bomb in our government finances. It's a massive, massive problem.ā (Daily Express: 28/12/24)
Even though we only come 15th out of 30 places for European pension generosity, Nigel Farage describes UK public sector pensions as āgold plated", condemning the difference between public and private sector pension provision as āpensions apartheidā. Why he wants to devalue public sector pensions rather than argue for an increase in private sector pension provision is a question only he and his fellow Reform UK millionaires can answer.
Ā Nearly 20% of the British workforce is employed in the public sector, so what we do know is that Reform UK is calling for the future impoverishment of over 6 million people. Only a few weeks ago Reform UK MPās voted AGAINST the withdrawal of the winter fuel payments to pensioners. How you can logically vote for retaining pension payments one minute and then argue for a reduction in pension payments the next makes no sense.
āNigel Farage demands Labour Stop winter fuel axe and āend war on pensioners'" Ā (Daily Express: 26/09/24)
The cynical among us might think that Reform UK will say almost anything to gain votes no mater how controversial, immoral or illogical, but it does seem to work. Lets hope those that vote for Reform UK and its super-rich backers donāt find themselves the victims of their own political naivety.

The hypocrisy of Reform UK!
Nick Candy, the billionaire property tycoon, having defected from the Conservative Party, is now Reform UK Treasurer.
We all know Reform UK is anti immigration and unsurprisingly they suggested a total ban on migration as far as the UK is concerned during the election:
āReform proposes āfreezeā on immigration.... Ā claiming "Britain is broken" and "in decline culturally", and that stopping immigration would "help us at least try to catch up".
Given Reform UKās strongly held anti-immigration views it really is hypocritical of Nick Candy to be making millions out of migrant labour in the Middle East.
āDubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and UK-based Candy Capital have formed a joint venture to develop three towers in Dubaiās One Central commercial district.āĀ (MEED: 05/14/23)
A year later and Nick Candy is expanding his property development business connections in Dubai.
āNickās private investment firmĀ Candy Capitalās is partnering with Modon Holding, one of the largest real estate developers in the Middle East, to focus on developing a portfolio of high-endĀ propertyĀ projects in the region.ā (Rental Living News: 24/10/24)
Nothing wrong with making money on overseas development you might argue and you would be right. But, and it is a big but, Candy is Treasurer of a UK political party that is strongly anti-immigration, yet in Dubai nearly 90%Ā of theĀ construction workforce consists of migrant workers.
It is therefore almost inevitable that Nick Candy will be employing migrants, perhaps even actively importing them into Dubai, whist at the same time condemning migration in the UK.
The 500,000 migrants who work in the construction industry in DubaiĀ face challenging conditions, including low wages, long working hours and inadequate living conditions.
This report from Human Rights Watch sums up the hell that is migrant working conditions in Dubai:
āThe UAEās kafalaĀ (sponsorship) system ties migrant workersā visas to their employers, preventing them from changing or leaving employers without permission. Employers can falsely charge workers for abscondingā even when escaping abuse, which puts them at risk of fines, arrest, detention, and deportation, all without any due process guarantees. Many low-paid migrant workers were acutely vulnerableĀ to situations that amountĀ to forced labor, including passport confiscation, wage theft, and illegal recruitment fees. Trade unions are not permitted, which prevents workers from collectively bargaining. The UAE still does not have a non-discriminatory minimum wage.ā (United Arab Emirates: Events of 2023)
Let hope those people that are thinking of voting Reform UKĀ donāt end up with the same working conditions as the construction workers in Dubai when the billionaires and millionaires who own Reform UK are running the country.
