it’s  a  common  idea ,   once  you’ve  been  spared  from  death ,   your  following  time  is  borrowed ,   or  even  stolen ;   i don’t believe their relationship is traditional nor healthy ,   at least during the og .   i believe shera still feels guilty ,   because when cid shouts over the intercom   “ you’ll  die ! ”   she simply replies   “ i  don’t  mind . ”   but he still sacrificed the mission to save her anyway .   he sacrificed all their dreams ,   not just his ,   though she seemingly accepted her fate long before he even realized she was still on the ship .   one teammate even  tries to encourage him to forget about shera  and follow through with the launch .   this wasn’t just his dream ,   this was a team effort ,   and he sacrificed all of it to save one woman who put herself in that situation to begin with .   she risked her life because she didn’t trust the numbers and didn’t trust her captain’s word ,   or so it seems .

       i believe he still holds her responsible for the failure to launch only because he believes she’s smarter than she thinks ,   that she worries too much and it grates on his nerves ;   he genuinely believes she’s intelligent in her own right and  lets her anxieties get in her own way .   that’s what he’s upset about ,   instead of resenting his decision to save her .   he believes she’s partly responsible because she didn’t trust the numbers ,   or him ,   but in the end ,   shinra  pulled  the  plug  on  the  program ,   not  shera .   

       i also believe he’s in the wrong ,   with yelling at her constantly and demanding she follow orders .   i believe he finally gets his shit together after finally flying into space .   there’s a phenomenon known as the  overview  effect  experienced by astronauts in space :    “ It  is  the  experience  of  seeing  firsthand  the  reality  of  the  Earth  in  space ,   which  is  immediately  understood  to  be  a  tiny ,   fragile  ball  of  life ,   “ hanging in the void ”,   shielded  and  nourished  by  a  paper - thin  atmosphere .   From  space ,   national  boundaries  vanish ,   the  conflicts  that  divide  people  become  less  important ,   and  the  need  to  create  a  planetary  society  with  the  united  will  to  protect  this   “ pale  blue  dot ”   becomes  both  obvious  and  imperative . ”   --   he literally sees the earth as a fragile orb of life and realizes his conflicts and his issues are so small in comparison ,   plus when he fights sephiroth ,   he actually has hope for the future and has no intention of dying in the north crater when he has so much .  .  .   Life to return to .   

       so when he returns to rocket town after seph’s defeat ,   i imagine maybe a year or so later he finally proposes to shera .   and she accepts !   and  his team builds him an airship  which he names after his new wife .   i believe he yells much less   ( at her ,   at least )   and no longer holds resentment for the failure to launch no .   26 .   

cue  the  angels  singing   because   tori,   aka   @nibelstrike​​     is   here !    i   have  adored  her   from  afar  since   her  zatanna  days,   and  truly:   everytime  i  see  her  on  the  dash  i   get   heart-eyes !    she  is  so  skilled,   the  graphics  she  does ,   her  writing   &   not  only  does  she  pour  so   much  love  for   tifa,   i  am  convinced   SHE  IS    tifa  !    the  way  she  comes  up   with  verses  and  is  able  to  look  into  little  details ....  ah  yes,   a  true   work  of  art !      not  only  that :  honestly,    she  is  so  kind!   i  know  i  can  always   talk   to  her  on  discord,   and  man  am  i  glad  i  had  the  courage  to  ask   to  add   her!     ALSO  ALSO :    she  gave  me  such  a  huge  compliment  by  saying   Marvel   should   hire  me  to  write   felicia  and    I  WAS  ON  THE  FLOOR !     she  makes  me  feel  at   ease,   and  she  let’s  me  know  she  is  there  when  i  need  her.   i  am  truly  always  looking  forward  to  talking  to  her  but  still  sometimes  i  am  shy  bean,   because  she  is  astonishing  in  so  many  ways!   &  when  i  do,  i feel  silly  for  hesitating  because  tori  is  indeed  so loving  &  welcoming!    she  wants  to  spread  positivity  and  she  is  so  skilled  at  giving  just  the  right  words !     thank  you  for  everything  you  do  tori !

It was as bland a statement as any , but Lara nonetheless appreciated the sentiment . They’d been hiking up the same rotten slope for a day and a half now , stopping only to sleep or drink or rest for a moment , and there’d been little in the way of turning into a walking kebab for the local microfauna . Lara had counted three spider bites so far ; four , maybe , if she was right about the pain in her knee .

All in all , the ascend was slow and arduous . While there was no real danger involved — or , at least , none posed by deranged zealots packing AR-15s — it hadn’t been easy . The terrain was treacherous , and Lara often found herself wishing she was alone . Undisturbed .

A by - product of exhaustion , her mind chided . You haven’t stopped running since Egypt . If you keep this up , the ghost of your Christmas future might be waiting at the next turn .

A promise to be kept, a bet he couldn’t refuse  -  at first. For he never thought the day would have come, that the perspective of arm wrestling against a woman wouldn’t be considered an easy win from the very start. He considered himself a pretty strong young man, it was undeniable - the perks of knowing how to swim and to play blitz, training had shaped and made him grow with defined muscles and a nice form. It wasn’t typical of him to see the fairer sex as somehow weaker than him when it came to brute force, but it did remain the truth no girl had ever beaten him at arm wrestling before.

More than anything else, the reason had to be found in the fact very few girls would ask him any of that -- Tifa was no exception. She hadn’t asked him anything of that sort. He did. Spun by a wave of excited pride, with maybe a sprinkle of his showoff-side taking the better of him, had made Tidus ask her for the competition -- yes, but days ago. It was way before he would see for himself just how impavid and firm her fists and kicks could be.

❛ Me ? ❜  he asked, with a finger pointing at his own chest, a sure grin making way to his lips to prevent anything different than the next words to slip out, involuntarily;   ❛ What makes you think that ?  C’mon. Let’s do it now, I never forget promises-- not ones like this. ❜  or what kind of athlete would he be ?

He wasn’t one who couldn’t accept defeat so easily, but the feeling that story wouldn’t be ending in his favor kept growing heavier and more desperate inside his head. And as his heart skipped a beat, pumped of thrill at the fact the challenge would have been, nonetheless, a nice one, he took a step forward. Tifa graciously pointed at the barren, empty wooden table in the corner of the room, and he gulped down any trace of uncertainty. A shook of his head later he was now sitting in front of her, her and his hands locking - palm against the other, feeling, testing the competition already.
