The Tadpoles - NGC 1893 I did get some clear skies this past week, but disaster struck... my laptop decided to die. At first I thought it was the RAM going bad, but it appears that it's the motherboard. Until I can get that all sorted, some old data it is! A few weeks ago I posted a SHO Palette version of this data. Located in Auriga, NGC 1893 is a star cluster surrounded by nebulosity which is designated as IC 410. Flaming Star Nebula & the Tadpole Nebula - SHO Palette (Simulated) IC 405 & NGC 1893 . Deciding to wait for a late start on another set of targets, I got antsy and decided to search around and noticed that the Flaming Star Nebula was up. Instead of going after my other targets I setup to get around 4 hours here. My platesolving was having issues so future captures probably won't match this framing exactly, so I decided to go ahead and post this image. Tadpoles Nebula & NGC 1893 - SHO Palette Located in the constellation Auriga, NGC 1893 is a star cluster surrounded by a large HII region designated as IC 410. This are has produced some stunning nebulosity including a portion we call the Tadpoles. Normally I focus on its neighbor, the Flaming Star Nebula, but I decided to put on my Meade 80mm Triplet and shoot this are at a focal length of 480mm. Snuggle in with a coffee and look at the gorgeous Tadpole Nebula (IC 410). This beautiful star forming region is located about 12,000 light years away. The cloud itself is about 100 light years wide or 1 quadrillion km! (1 with fifteen 0's). Taking a closer look, the interstellar cloud is shaped by the surrounding stars or open cluster NGC 1893. These stars help shape it through stellar winds and radiation. The cluster of stars all around this nebula were formed about 4 million years ago.
