The Orion Nebula & Running Man | M42 & sh2-279 - Providence, RI . Taking old data and reprocessing it with newer techniques to bring out more detail and clarity is a very satisfying (and potentially frustrating) experience. This is data that I took that I was not able to combine with other data without a lot of weird artifacts. This led me to just processing it and leaving it be. Going back, I was able to keep the core muted more while brining out more dust and color. All processing here was done with Photoshop, using DeepSkyStacker to stack the data. . First imagecis starless, next with stars and lastly an inverted image. . Last night a waxing gibbous moon, Aldebaran, Mars and the Pleiades star cluster converged to form a cool triangle in the night sky. This is a very quick, rough edit. Did anyone else see or photograph this event? This was taken with a crop sensor Nikon D7200 and Tamron 28-70mm lens and a standard tripod. A combination of two exposures. The Double Cluster contains two open star clusters. NGC869 and NCG884 reside in the constellation of Perseus. At a distance of 7,500 light years away this pair of clusters is visible to the naked eye.
