disdainful  honey  gaze  sweeps  over  the  young  togruta ,   and  though  his  face  gives  nothing  away of  the  internal  struggle  raging  within ,   it  is  so  difficult  to  maintain  the  facade ,   to  ignore  the  way  his  heart  twists  in  his  chest  and  cries  out  at  her  words ,   her  expression ,   her  presence  here.    to  keep  a  tight  rein  on  that  which  remains  of  anakin  skywalker ,   buried  deep  and  locked  away. 

anakin  skywalker  does  not  want  to  hurt  ahsoka ,   pleads  for  mercy.    not  her!    not  her!

vader  knows  that  there  is  no  choice  to  be  made.    he  will  do  what  he  must. 

he  loses  the  battle  for  control  for  only  the  briefest  of  instants ;    the  evidence  is  there  in  the  slightest  twitch  of  his  lips ,   a  flicker  of  something  in  his  eyes ,   and  then  it  is  gone  as  quickly  as  it  had  come.    vader  scoffs.        “   and  you  will  die  for  that  mistake.   ”

     𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄. The same warmth radiated from the foundation but the serenity that had once blanketed it was now stirring into something new. Things were quiet but it was no longer serene. After the bombing Jedi were on guard, things were tense. Understandably so, considering all the events that had followed. It was one of the hardest chapters in Anakin Skywalker’s life. He had almost lost Ahsoka. She was hunted down like an animal, stripped of any dignity she more than rightfully deserved. She had evaded capture for an impressive amount of time. Anakin was quietly proud of her though he knew he should not have been. But it proved what he already knew about her; she was smart, cunning, resilient, and resourceful. 

     After the trial of his Padawan and the offer to come back to the Temple that she had accepted, Anakin felt as though things would finally come back to normal. That it would just be the two of them against the galaxy as it should be. But he noticed a change. And a not so subtle change at that. Ahsoka’s Force Signature.... it was different. It wasn’t as open and warm as it had once been. Now it was closed off and hard to read. It felt strange too. Anakin had formed a connection with his apprentice and it was like thread connecting the two no matter how far apart they were. Now the thread felt thinner - and there was a strange thrum in it. Anakin tried his best to ignore it; ‘it will pass, it will pass. She’s been through a lot.’ But it never seemed to pass. In fact, the foreign feeling in her Signature only seemed to grow more strange as time went on. 

     It was worrisome.

     The Jedi Master was silent for awhile, taking in the injured clones around him, happy to be able to work by Ahsoka’s side again. He would be lying if he said he didn’t see her his daughter. Plo wished they could spend more time with her, and sadly this was time shared. On the battlefield after chaos had struck.
