any fun facts about Nantucket, Massachusetts?
Nantucket is a small island near Tuckernuck Island, which itself is best known for being mysteriously left out of rhymes involving Nantucket when its own name rhymes with even more English language obscenities. Nantucket's name allegedly comes from a Wampanoag word meaning "the far away island with bad soil that nobody wants." This was alleged by the merchant colonist Thomas Mayhew, who was best known for both founding Martha's Vineyard and for making up erroneous etymologies for Wampanoag words.
Nantucket was also home to Colonel Hans Landa who helped to end World War 2, and could often be seen mowing his lawn with a hat that for some reason concealed his entire forehead.
