“REACTIONS”

NEW HAUNTS have made a darkened splash with their debut single, in the form of the melancholic “REACTIONS.”

The Bristol based project work around a baroque template, one that deals in somber tones, a big beat backdrop, and bigger vocals as evidenced on their opening statement. “Reactions” brims with finely tuned Electro Pop, allowing its feminine lead to shine amongst the funeral dirge arrangement. Said funeral dirge is a more than suitable bed for Alice’s commanding vocal and is comprised of tasty synths that act as window dressings for the moving and truly blown out low end beat that anchors the whole damn thing. 

But don’t listen to me, take it from the creator herself, who stated:

“‘Reactions’ is pretty much about the beauty versus the horror of having emotional connections. I wanted to encompass both the good and the bad by layering softer, dreamier sounds with bleaker, harsher ones. I play around with opposites a lot in my music – it’s not often I find a subject matter which I feel 100% positive or negative about, and that’s a big part of what I love to dissect and examine when I write a song.”

“Reactions” is a fine primer, and is more than enough proof that we’re in for a gothly treat when New Haunts drops their debut album.....
