Great light to get pictures of remians Newark Priory, next to the River Wey near Ripley and Pyrford. Built from around 1189, it was finally demolished in the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII c1538, along with Chertsey Abbey Henry VIII had his motives with the split with Rome and many at the time, with the reformation, were happy to see their demise since they had so much wealth and power (especially Chertsey Abbey).
