#new hell

This is New Hell by Greet Death. Released in 2019 the second album released by the band is brutal and cold, meshing despair and delight into one neat package. A continuous back and forth between sheer agony and a desperate attempt to flee from it. Blending perfectly the melancholic nature of shoegaze maliciously peppered with doom metal and themed like the cracking of heavy machinery against immovable stone.

Favorite Track: Entertainment

A cumbersome track, that lulls you into a trance with its hypnotic loops. The heavy motifs of isolationism and self destruction drag you down to where the cold lives. It’s a simple track but it brings with it the weight of sin and regret, burdening the listener with remorse. For me this track feels like living in a hollow body, being an unwilling participant in your own life.

Rating: 8/10

New Hell is exactly what it says it is, a new Hell for the listener to experience. Greet Death are masters of instilling despair unto their listeners, and I eat it up every time. The feeling of emptiness that they instill in me is unmatched among similar bands, their signature vocal styles and burning guitar both fill me with quiet contemplation yet leaving me feeling less than once the album is finished.
