I have almost no photos saved or kept from my formative years. Very few remain (most are destroyed), and I normally don't share anything from my sparce vault. I saved this photo because it proves that I attended and graduated film school. Back then I was so willing to prove I mattered, that I even existed. And while that drive got me into a school program connected to USC, in my rush to get in the door I missed one VERY important lesson along the way through it. NEVER WORK FOR FREE. I spent years interning at various studios large and small, and while I did learn a lot the reality is that I was paid $0.00 for those days. Because I had no self-worth, I got paid exactly what my market value was, $0.00. Overtime shifts, covering multiple offices for the holidays, working with celebrity. In the end, because I was naive I got taken advantage of. It wouldn't be the first time, and unfortunately for me not the last. Sometimes the most important lessons are the most painful. The biggest lesson I ever learned in buisness was never in school. Always make sure you stand on solid ground. Know your worth, and stay aware. #school #fromthevaults #neverworkforfree #knowyourvalue #betteryourself #graduation #filmschool #ihatethisphoto (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_v7G8lJ--H/?igshid=zn6m2d55sswd
