AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018
I’ve been attending AsiaPOP Comicon for three years now and honestly, this event just keeps getting better. My family and I are geeks, we love to watch all different kinds of movies from different genres. After watching a movie, we would always share our insights, it could be good or bad, you’re opinion is always welcome at the table.

I was so excited for this year’s APCC because one, I brought my boyfriend with me and second, Tye Sheridan was one of the celebrity headliners. My boyfriend doesn’t understand how excited I am because he has never been to comicon before and this was his first time to attend an event like this, so basically, he doesn’t have any idea what comicon is like or what APCC has to offer but when we finally went inside, I swear I saw his eyes grew big. Seeing our childhood favorites, it felt like we were kids again.
The Netflix booth was the crowd favorite (and my personal favorite too) and I was so happy when I found out that they were coming back this year. I honestly didn’t mind the long queue because I know it was gonna be worth it for my instagram. LOL!
OK, back to Tye Sheridan. We had a ticket for a photograph with him but it was valid for two people only (we only bought one ticket coz it was expensive hehe) so we decided to watch him on the second floor for free. When he finally entered the stage, I felt so kilig, I mean, everyone was! I was screaming from excitement and I just couldn’t believe that he’s here. There were questions asked and I got to know him more like he’s from Texas and he’s a nerd too like most of us. When the show was almost done, he went to the front and everyone was rushing to go to him and I was also one of the people who ran towards the stage! Then I knew that despite how small I am, I had an advantage of entering small spaces so imagine all the people running with their phones and I was nowhere near the stage but I managed to go to him and get a good picture.
After that, we went back to the first floor where the main event was. We took pictures with some of the cosplayers like Star Lord, Ironman, Steve Harrington and Dustin, Miguel from Coco, and many more.
It was finally time for a photograph with the one and only, Tye, and I couldn’t help but I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I was telling myself to not do anything stupid to embarrass myself and luckily, I didn’t. We were standing in line and suddenly, we were next. He was just a few feet away from me. He was smiling and he was so nice. He took my hand and introduced himself and at that moment I forgot my name, all I could say was ‘hi’, way to go right? But anyway, he was friendly and really gentle, he put his arm around me and we took a picture. At that moment, all I could think of was how I wanted to stop time. I wanted to tell him that I read Ready Player One, I wanted to tell him that I watched the movie and I loved it, but I didn’t get a chance to tell him that. After our photo was taken, I asked for a hug and believe it or not, he hugged me!
Everything was all worth it. Thank you APCC for the wonderful experience! I will be wearing a costume next time, I promise. See you next year!
