Got to info dump about medieval literature while attempting to explain why a famed medieval poet may or may not have been illiterate. It's a good day I think.
Thanks Wolfram. I hope you think the debate is funny wherever you are.

Looking for a list of transgender or trans-coded Percival media. So far I have the camlann podcast and spear by Nicola Griffith. Apparently Parzival also has a trans-coded Parzival but I haven't yet found a translation I like of that one. Looking for more recs plz.
Things keep getting even more interesting in Book XIV of Parzival. In the last book, Gawain and Parzival run into each other. This current book continues the result of them running into each other and also Arthur being a mediator of feuds. Let's dive in!
So, Gawain and Parzival don't recognize each other. Both fight each other, giving their all. Meanwhile, Arthur talks to Gramoflanz because "Why fight my nephew?"
Gramoflanz: 🤷🏻♂️ We agreed to a duel. Only one of us will lose.
While both kings talk to each other, Bene the Boatman's daughter serves as Itonje's messenger and Gramoflanz is super happy to hear about her. Then, he gets ready for his duel with Gawain.
Unfortunately, he witnesses Gawain and Parzival fighting each other fiercely. Both knights have to be stopped because "Yo, Gawain, you have a match, remember?"
The moment Parzival hears Gawain's name, he instantly stops and he beats himself because "I can't believe I fought my buddy Gawain! Woe is me!"
Gawain: Bruh, we're good.
Then, Gawain collapses to grass, where he's attended by a page. Parzival isn't too tired from the fight they just had. King Gramoflanz approaches where both men are. Basically…
Gramoflanz: You can't fight me in your state. Rest today and tomorrow we fight.
Parzival: I can fight him for you if you want, Gawain.
Gawain: Nah, I'll deal with him tomorrow.
In the background, Arthur is just chilling, watching everything. Bene approaches the king (feeling angry on behalf of Gawain) and, then, proceeds to curse a storm when she finds out that her lord is Itonje's brother too. She even tells Gramoflanz to go away.
Dinner happens. Everyone catches up with each other. It's a grand time (except Orgeluse who's still salty about Parzival having rejected her 🤣). Afterwards, Gawain tells Bene not to tell his sister about his duel with the man she loves.
Bene doesn't like keeping silent about the duel, and Itonje notices it (assuming the worst in the sense that the man she loves rejected her love and devotion). After dinner, everyone goes to sleep.
The next morning, Parzival sneaks out from his tent, gets himself armed and goes to the meeting place of the duel. He proceeds to kick Gramoflanz' arse in Gawain's place. 😆 Meanwhile, Gawain and Co. just relax and take their sweet time.
Of course, the commotion is heard. Gawain and everyone hurry to the meeting place. 😂 Essentially…
Gawain: 😗 Welp, now, it's you who needs the rest. Let's fight tomorrow, Gramoflanz.
Arthur: Really, Parzival? Gawain told you not to fight for him.
Gawain: I don't mind. We'll just postpone for tomorrow.
And thus, everyone goes back to their respective camps. Gramoflanz is so annoyed over what happened that he sends messengers to tell the king to please make sure that Gawain is the one at the fighting ring, not someone else. The man also sends Itonje a love letter.
At King Arthur's camp, Itonje somehow finds out about her brother's duel with Gramoflanz. The young lady is so devastated that she ends up telling her mother and grandmother. Granny Arnive sends a message to Arthur because "Come here, right now."
Arthur comes to the tent. At the exact same time, Gramoflanz' messengers and Bene arrive too. The whole thing goes over like this…
Itonje: My brother is cruel for dueling Gramoflanz. I love him. 😭
Arthur: You're too young to be dealing with this. The duel must be stopped, unless… it is stopped for love. Also, did you two meet…?
Itonje: Not in person. We just sent each other messages through Bene. He's a good man.
Bene: Err… My King? There seem to be two messengers nearby…
Cue Arthur sending Bene to see what they want. The messengers give the young lady a ring and a love letter from Gramoflanz. More conversation happens between the king and Bene, while Itonje kisses the love letter. Afterwards, Itonje is all like, "Read the letter yourself, uncle. He loves me."
Arthur reads the love letter out loud. The king is even surprised at how bloody romantic it is. Also, "Dry your tears, please. Tell me. How did this happen?
Itonje: Bene helped me.
Arthur: Right. Don't worry. I'll help.
The King discreetly gets out of the tent, attends Gramoflanz' messengers and arranges a meeting with the other king. Afterwards, Arthur goes to the other camp talks with Gramoflanz telling him he knows about the love Itonje has for him.
More talking happens and there's yet another meeting arrangement in Arthur's camp this time. Arthur plays mediator between the feud between his nephew and Gramoflanz. Moreover, Gramoflanz and Itonje meet for the first time (😂 and Arthur tells them they have his permission to kiss).
Then, Gramoflanz' uncle also decides to join in the mediations. The older men talk to Orgeluse because "Can you please drop the grudge against the man who killed your first husband?"
Orgeluse: 🙄 I'll drop it if he drops the feud he has against King Lot.
Gramoflanz instantly accepts just so he can be with Itonje. Everyone makes peace with each other and seal the deal with a kiss. Afterwards, Arthur presides over several marriages.
Gramoflanz gets married to Itonje. Arthur's other niece, Condrie, is married to Lischois (one of Orgeluse's homies). And Arthur's sister, Sangive, is married off to Florant (another of Orgeluse's homies). In addition, Orgeluse announces that Gawain is the lord of her lands and her love (which proceeds to break a lot of hearts 😂).
And so, everything ends well. However, the only one who isn't happy is Parzival because he misses his wife, whom he hasn't seen in years. The young man departs from the camp early in the morning (which makes a lot of people miss him).
And that's how Book XIV ends.
Lesson? Don't fight unknown knights if you value your life. Moreover, if you have a feud with Gawain, don't fall in love with his sister.
One of the funny things about Eschenbach's Parzival is the fact that Clinschor just chills in the background, even after Gawain becomes the owner of Schastel Marveile. There's also the implied fact that Clinschor and Arnive had a thing, seeing as Argive knew how to give background information about him to her grandson and knew how to explain how the stuff in the castle worked. You'd think that he'd be defeated by Gawain, but, no, instead this guy is still running around somewhere out there. 😆
