Another day, another chance to yap about my Durge, Nestra.
After Nestra slaughtered her village, she becomes numb. The only thing that makes her feel alive is a good challenge. Whether it is a kill, a challenge, or a difficult question, Nestra enjoys having to work for it. She also is a bit of a perfectionist. She wants to do everything as efficiently as possible. This leads her to continue her studies of the body. She attends university to perfect her knowledge of the body. She learns exactly how to put a body together in class. Outside of class, she practices taking them apart. She excels, is one of the top of her class. Her proficiency attracts attention. A businessman named Enver Gortash approaches her. He is looking for a doctor who doesn't mind a bit of shady dealings. He offers to pay well if she agrees to be his doctor on call. Nestra doesn't need the money, but Gortash interests her. He represents a challenge she would never refuse. She agrees to be the doctor for his operation.
Over time, the two of them work closely together and begin to trust each other. Gortash eventually reveals he is a Banite and he has plans to make an alliance with the Bhaalists in the city. Nestra decides to not tell him she is a Bhaalspawn to see how he goes about making the alliance. He eventually sends an invitation to speak to the Temple of Bhaal. Nestra accepts the meeting. Gortash hadn't known Nestra was a Bhaalist, but he wasn't terribly surprised to find out. Their alliance grows from there.
