It just seems like there's a lot that goes in to raising a child in the TB universe, even more so than our world! That being said, is having kids considered a societal norm, like it is in our world? That is to say, is there a stigma for remaining childless? I just imagine a lot more thought would go in to deciding to bring a child in to world when you have so many things to consider...Is there even a concept of a "nuclear family" to begin with (since many animals have different family dynamics)?
It’s pretty common for adults not to become parents out of their own choice, but what other people’s reaction to this is depends a lot on their class and character. For example, people of the upper classes are usually more judgemental if you remain child-less, while lower-class mothers will advice you to really think it over before you get a child.The concept of a strict nuclear family is however pretty uncommon. The most usual family structures will include grandparents, in-laws and adult siblings living under the same roof.

The Charm is located in the center of the park-an ancient merry go round that was once the crown jewel.
When Taako finds out that he didn’t accidentally kill 40 people, during some down time on the base after the mission to Refuge, he makes several approaches over a handful of days to the Fantasy Costco, each time kind of just stopping short of the entrance and nervously shuffling for a second before walking away again.
Then one night at like 2AM he sort of approaches slowly like he’s sneaking up on it and finally walks in.
Somewhere in the vegetable section, he feels like he’s being followed and whips around.
“The hell are you doing here kid, your bedtime was hours ago aren’t you like 6?”
“I’m 12 sir,” Angus says, sheepishly poking his head out from behind some reasonably priced watermelons. “I’m sorry, sir, you’ve been making strange approaches to the Fantasy Costco for several nights now and this is the first time you’ve come in so I decided to do a good old fashioned stake out!”
“Why the hell do you like following people are you that lonely?”
“Yes.”
So Taako lets him tag along, and lets him sit in the kitchen with him at 3AM, half asleep, while Taako makes almond crusted chicken on a bed of farro and zucchini with a tzatziki sauce (no transmutation, baby steps) but doesn’t give any to Angus. Just in case (not cos he cares or anything).
And Taako sits down with his plate of food in front of him and sort of stares at it for a while before finally taking a bite of it shakily.
Angus watches, confused but entranced. When Taako is halfway through the plate, he says, “Sir, not that I’m one to judge emotions, but... why are you crying?”
“I’m not crying, you little weirdo! Why would I be crying!”
Angus just points, sure enough there’s one tear on Taako’s cheek.
“It’s okay sir, you just must have really missed cooking!”
Taako stares intently at the tear he has now wiped on his fingers. “....No,” he says after a long moment. “I.... I don’t think it’s that....”
“Well, then, what is it sir?”
Taako continues to stare at his hand, trying to harken back to something. An explanation, a reason somewhere in the fuzz of his memory, something important that he missed infinitely more than just cooking, that he still misses so much his chest feels emptied from it...
“I.... I don’t know.”
Somewhere in the stolen century, in another dimension, he and Lup are at a restaurant together.
