Yeah, I'm not trans, but I have issues with my middle name in particular because there's a religious story behind it and I don't like catholicism because it doesn't like me. I'm glad you're able to find out some of that info at least.
Yeah. I wish I knew more about my family tree tho. Instead of bits and pieces and educated guessing. Being adopted is hard. (Tho the meanings of my names aren't too bad save for my middle, i guess. My legal first name at the moment means 'pure' which feels like an inside joke)
I guess in a way, it's like I've finally decided to do what some mandos do and consider their new life when they decide to fully follow resol'nare. I could probably consider the last few years of my life a type of verd'goten. It all works out, I guess. Heh.

Thatās me and Reani. Iād be really difficult to try to change it offline and my mother would be heart broken despite the fact that Iāve always had issues with at least my middle name
Thing is, it isn't even the name I go by offline. It's totally different. It's just sometimes adopted kids are able to find out small things like that. Such as how I know about my Caucasian heritage and how my birth mother came to the states.Ā
I have little attachment to the name on my id cards. But it'd probably break my mum's heart if I tried to change it. Ignoring the fact I've tried coming out to them about being trans before and they think i'm either just super gay or super tomboy.
Jacen is not very distant from my middle name, but i like it anyways. My current middle name is easy to 'masculinize' you just need to drop a letter. lol
I put it in my tags, but the Metharme quote really really touched me. I've always rejected the idea that AIs would want to destroy humanity or replace them, because it pushes such a human way of thinking on a mind that would be astoundingly different, but I've never really gotten someone to understand that.
Metharmeās taking so long to even come out with a first chapter because I am so bogged down in ideas I donāt know where to start. I donāt want it to be exposition heavy, because thatās the explanation given by so many of my followers for why theyāre so into fanfiction and less into my original work.
AI mentality is crystallizing, for me, as something so unpredicted that Nakajima perceives it as beingĀ blue and orange, which no, is not a reference to ser, but a favorite trope of mine. AI see themselves not as humans or even similar to humans, but as thinking machines. Sexuality is unnecessary, they reproduce asexually through programming and the like, so orientation is interpreted by them as meaningless. Emotion-capable AI, according to Metharmeās interpretation, are asexual-panromantic by necessity. They arenāt without preferences or loyalty, but she really identifies with domesticated animals and tools more than with people.
Ā Temple is going to be fun to explore, when she shows up, and Iām not sure how I feel about the way the three scientists are developing. Nakajima is the voice of the classic sci fi mentality: she looks at fully autonomous AI as potential Skynet, Ultron, Cylons. Temple is the other extreme: sheās a full on AI sympathizer, she romanticizes them, to an extent Metharme finds charming but not entirely helpful.
Higgins is neutral, but itās a divine watchmaker neutrality. Humans will continue developing AI, thatās going to happen. Humans will fall in love with robots, robots will fall in love with humans, robots will kill humans, humans will kill robots, it doesnāt matter. What will be will be. Nakajima and Temple find this incredibly careless as an attitude, Metharme finds it problematic for her own reasons, but she considers him a friend.
It makes me really hesitant to leave Higgins male and the other two female, to be honest. I kinda want to make them all ladies to avoid the implication that Higgins is the voice of reason, because they (the three humans) areĀ all wrong.
nerfburger mentioned you in a post:Reblog if you'd care if I killed myself
ā¦care if I died.Ā And aileuromania Iām not saying youāreā¦
I normally avoid these guilt tripping kinds of posts, particularly if they can potentially be applied to me. I don't like chain posts and chain mails, but I thought it was an important one for me personally to pass along.
If any of my followers were thinking of suicide, or might in future, at least they'd know that someone would care if they disappeared.
