This would not be the first time in Marvel comics that MLK Jr. and Malcolm X would be symbolized. You see in the X-men which came out during the civil rights movement in 1963. Charles Xavier symbolized Martin Luther King Jr and emulated his approach while the radical and vilified Magneto was the cartoon personification of Malcolm X.
