I noticed someone on the tag talking about a real life thing that happened on Neopets where someone was linked to a "shock" site.

A thing where there was subliminal messages and awful images that popped up. I can't remember who it was and I really don't want to go combing through the tag...

But out of curiosity, was the thing like...where at first you were looking for hidden pictures in an image...and then it started reading off "Our Father"? Because that happened to me and I swear it was on Neopets.

I was a weird kid and was fascinated with this game someone linked, where you had to find the hidden images in these pictures. There were naked women and things like that, and being young, I couldn't help but find it interesting. But then the game abruptly ended and took me to this weird video. I can't remember a lot about it because it was so traumatic, but I remember how it sounded.

It was the sound of young children, reading "Our Father, who art in Heaven..." slowly, deliberately and almost in a hushed whisper, harmonizing with each other and their voices almost sounded like they were reverberating off each other's voices. It was so disturbing.

Then as it reached the end of the prayer, they started to slow down, more and more. Until it got to the line "Lead us not into temptation." Their pace had slowed down to a desperate crawl.

Then they stopped after that line. It was silent and I was curious, so I leaned close to the speakers.

Then they said the last line and there was screaming. I cried and lept back and looked at the screen. Images of people dead, aborted fetuses, miscarriages, slaughters, starvation, blood and real life gore. There was so much red

red.

Something about it felt like it was right in front of me, not just pictures on the screen. I could hear that screaming inside my skull, bouncing back and forth. I couldn't shut my eyes as I took in all the blood and carnage, saturating my child-self with the horrors of the world. It just wouldn't stop. The screaming kept going.

I couldn't handle it and I shut the monitor off and began to cry and hyperventilate. I ran into the backyard where my parents were doing garden work. I put on a smile and paced around awkwardly, trying not to break down into a panic attack.

I was horrified and it became hard for me to go back to neopets. I still went, though, but I was so much more cautious. I wouldn't let myself be led into temptation again.
