A full moon illuminates the night while the Alpha stands proud and attentive. The Protector, always ready and sturdy, perches on his right. His Reliable, the heart of his people, flanks his left, as should the heart be. Before him, the Alpha observes his people.

He watches as his sharp-witted Leonine friend amuses the whims of some young companions; the tinkling laughter of a young Pup with his bright youthful face, flowed seamlessly with the rolling baritone laugh belonging to the Adonis of the group.  The last companion of the four, the youngest in this little quartet, joined in too with the teasing and gentle banter of his older peers.

The Alpha smiles endearingly. Youngest he may be among them four, but the Alpha knows never to underestimate the heated passion in this young Chief. The younger has proven time and again to be absolutely full capable. Barely into adulthood, the young Chief had also led his own group of fellow confidantes to be the best of the best – the superior unit. And although the group of youths will always congregate around their chieftain, they are more than able to stand on their own too. They are all dream chasers; so young but yet so accomplished.

The Captain, ever the capable and dependable one of this dream group, fills the role of the family head when the chief is away. Meanwhile, his close companion Nurtures those around him with gratuitous kindness and affection. Then there is the Intellectual one, with his mind as agile as a fox; he may not be the leader despite being the oldest of them, but he is still able to lead with precision when tasked to. Two younger siblings follow after him. One Boisterous and loud while the other seemingly quieter and restrained, but ever as Playful nonetheless – a true pairing of two peas in a pod. And last, but never the least, the one embracing them all: the one who shines like the Sun. So infectious is his personality, it is nigh impossible not to revel in his warm presence.

With the Sun, the Alpha notes an additional member to the usually six companions. The Alpha kept a chuckle to himself as he sees the eldest of his people fit so seamlessly among the youngest. He wasn’t surprised though. For where the Sun goes, the Moon is bound to follow. It was said that the Sun gives people their spirit and the Moon gives people their soul. Watching his Sun and Moon, the Alpha couldn’t find a fault with that statement.

His sight then shifts and the Alpha moves on to complete his head count. He catches the eye of another. A silent acknowledgement passes between them. They both know what it meant to be in charge, although the Alpha will admit the other’s charges can be a tad handful.

The Eldest of the septet unit exudes the patience of a saint as he supervises his charges. First, the multilingual charge who holds a sharp tongue but moves with a Feline grace any can only envy. Next were the two charges that were the embodiment of Silent and Resolute. But where the Alpha had spent a considerable time nurturing one half of the duo, he was frankly unsure of the other. Still, he was confident in him all the same. Finally, a trio of mess completes the seven and the Alpha only means well in describing them as such. They were rambunctious and embodied chaos but beneath the exterior, he knows there were Gentleness, Sensitivity and Maturity.

Chaos.

The Alpha lets out a chuckle.  It represented whom they are, all twenty-one of them, himself included.

He gave one last sweep across the scene before him, recounting every last persons in his humble family.  As individuals, they were each incredible entities. But together, they were a force to be reckoned.

This is it – the new beginning. They are the new era.

The Alpha parted his lips. As though sensing his sentiments, every one looked up to their leader. The air hung heavy with anticipation as they sensed he was about to speak.

“We got to go get them,” the Alpha announces.
