A pang of envy seized his heart as he thought about the mother he never knew. His father spoke of her fondly whenever asked, but he could see regret in the man's eyes, as if there was something about Lillian he didn't want to remember.
He wished he had known her, even if it would have been for a few years. Not knowing made watching Christopher be loved all the more difficult.
