Now that I have officially started neglecting my hair for dreads, I want to make a complete lifestyle change. I need to become more comfortable with myself and how nature intended. I am going to go full vegan (was vegetarian), I want all organic if possible (I am on a college student budget), I'm not going to wear bras (not like they were comfortable in the first place), and I currently haven't shaved in two month, I want to continue not to shave until I have become completely comfortable with it.
My goal is to be comfortable with how nature intended my body to be and grow in my spirituality.
Recap:
-dread through the neglect method
-vegan and organic
-bra-less
-No shave
-(maybe less makeup: not sure if i could give that up just yet)
Remember this is a work in progress and I am not a perfect person, I just want to be truly happy.
Wish me luck and guidance
Blessed Be.
My dreads at almost 9 months
Today I went shopping for my DIY dread -encouraging products. I got some baking soda for shampoo, some lemon juice to help it coarse up, and sea salt to make a sea salt spray. I also got Apple cider vinegar as a soak or something. I just went wild on the google search last night and found a few recipes. I want to start seeing dreads as soon as possible. A day 2 picture is probably pointless but fuck it, I wanna show my nappy hair off! Pics to come.
So it's official. Today is the start of my journey towards natural dreadlocks. It's been a long time coming and I'm too stoked to watch the process. I'll be posting pictures as my hair changes, since this is sorta an experiment. Who knows how they'll acuAlly turn out.

Everyday I separate my dreadlocks. It's become a sort of meditation.
Each time I sit down a couple thoughts rise in my mind.
1. Time will pass. I've decided to try the neglect method. I haven't brushed my hair in over 110 days. I love it. I spent so much time on my last set putting them in and taking them out. This time I figured: time will pass, hair will tangle its self. It's become so much more than that now, though. I consider this mantra everyday a little bit more in depth. It is so universal for all of my problems. Time will pass.
2. Who knows what will happen. This is my second thought. Simply because I wake up everyday and my hair looks so different from the day before! No two locks are the same, no two loops are the same, no two days are the same, no two weeks are the same, no two years are the same. Who knows what will happen. In my life or on my head. This is such a relieving thought for me. Because since nobody knows what will happen, you can make anything you want happen. How fantastic! How freeing! How uplifting!
Just some thoughts on my dreadlocks :)
